PhD Studies in Management at City University of Hong Kong (CityU)

The department of management at the CityU offers exceptional research opportunities in organizational behavior, strategic management, international business, and other related areas. We make every effort to actively involve research students in research activities, both to enhance the quality of their training and to improve their placement prospects upon graduation. Our exceptionally productive research culture and our one-on-one attention to our research students provide an excellent atmosphere for our students to do research and to excel in their research pursuits.

Our faculty and students have published in top-tier journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Management Science, Personnel Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. Our PhD students come from different parts of the world with varying backgrounds. Our PhD programme helps students acquire advanced knowledge and research skills in specialized areas. Many of our PhD graduates are working as faculty members in universities worldwide. Some of the universities include Rice University (USA), Durham University (UK), The University of Leeds, (UK), Lingnan University (Hong Kong, SAR, China), The University of Nottingham, Ningbo (China), The University of Macau (Macau, SAR, China).

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship

In addition to CityU』s internal scholarships, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship is the most prestigious and competitive scholarship provided by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in Hong Kong to attract talented students worldwide to Hong Kong to undertake their PhD studies.

To apply for the Hong Kong PhD fellowship, applicants should first submit an initial application at the RGC』s Online Application System (OAS) at www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd, and obtain a RGC reference number before December 1st (Hong Kong Time).

After the initial application, applicants should then submit a full application, together with supporting documents, to CityU』s Online Admission System at www.cityu.edu.hk/sgs/oas, and quote the RGC reference number, on or before December 1st (Hong Kong time).
