Traffic and housing problems in major cities could be solved by moving large companies and factories and their employees to the countryside. To what extent do you agree with this opinion?
it goes beyond any doubt that(毫無疑問=undoubtedly) many major cities are plagued with(受到---困擾=suffer from) serious traffic and housing problems worldwide. To reverse this adverse situation(扭轉不利局面), some governments plan to relocate large companies and factories including their employees in rural areas, which has triggered fierce debate(引發激烈的爭論). For my part, I side with opponents to a larger extent(傾向型反方觀點套句).
It has to be admitted that once businesses are removed out of a city, employees would move with their families to the countryside as well. For those from the regional areas(偏僻地區) who intend to move to the city for a job, they can soon find one in their own town. Expectedly, the pressure on traffic and housing demand would naturally be reduced because the city population may shrink to a certain level.
However, the effects may not meet the government』s expectation. First, not all employees are willing to settle in a less-developed town, especially for those who appreciate superior services and well-established facilities(優質的服務和完善的設施) that only cities provide. So they will stay and look for employment from city-based companies and the relocated companies may suffer from talent drain(人才流失). In addition, with the obvious comparison between the city and countryside, the people who move with the businesses might consider moving back to the cities again. When that happens, companies lose more employees plus the same problems about traffic and housing will reappear.
結尾一:In essence(實際上=in fact), based on the argument offered, it could be useful to have businesses settle in rural areas as a certain portion of city population will move along. Meanwhile, it may stop people from small towns to come into the cities for jobs. But looking from the flip side of this idea(看事情的另一面), people who seek for higher living standards will choose to stay in the city despite the inconvenience. Traffic and housing issues will still be a hot potato(棘手問題=thorny problem) for the government to deal with.
結尾二:to crack this hard nut(解決棘手問題), it could be more useful for the government to build more satellite towns(衛星城) to relieve the pressure of overpopulation in the city and stop people from small towns to come into the cities for jobs. Besides, it is a more advisable choice(明智選擇) to perfect road system and develop public transport to ease traffic congestion.
