Cognitively, Ti encourages you to construct systematic mental models of how the world works in order to navigate situations with confidence. The Ti perspective values: 1) Impersonal Problem Solving, 2) Refinement of Knowledge, and 3) Precise Calculation of Probabilities. Work on understanding why these things are important and what benefits they can bring to your life.

Without being able to approach problems with an impersonal mindset, you will often feel too entangled or allow your own implicit biases to negatively influence the decision making process. People with weak Ti often have difficulty parsing problems correctly, drawing bad conclusions or getting mired in excessive analyzing or circular reasoning, often because they cannot acknowledge how emotionally invested they are in being 「right」 in the eyes of others. Powerful Ti is able to clearly distinguish what information is relevant or irrelevant to a situation/problem because it values acting on fact-based analysis, even if it means admitting to being wrong, able to accept feedback and criticism well because it is necessary to right any wrongs. Powerful Ti knows that it is not good to get too personally or emotionally involved in decision making because it blinds or confuses you, opting instead to remain as impartial as possible, treating oneself and others as equal 「variables」 in a larger system to be understood and changed/adjusted as necessary. A clear mind leads to clear action and Ti seeks to maintain this state. Therefore, to develop Ti: step back and examine all the factors/variables before making a decision or tackling a problem, remove bias or irrelevant information by doing a systematic pro/con or cost/benefit analysis (in addition to analyzing what is morally right), acknowledge your own emotions or desires and exactly how they are impacting your judgment, listen to feedback or criticism and evaluate it dispassionately to see whether you need to change or improve yourself or your ideas, confront your flaws and shortcomings with the mindset of improving yourself, draw clear boundaries between yourself and others so that you do not get embroiled in drama that should not involve you, do not confuse other people』s behavior as being related to you when it is not, clearly separate out the roles and responsibilities of every individual involved in a situation so that you are clear about what you should or should not be doing.

Without refining your knowledge towards greater accuracy, you will often be misled by bad information or your own cloudy (unconscious) desires, which can result in repeating your mistakes, allowing problems to fester, or having little confidence in your problem solving ability. People with weak Ti tend to make assumptions or jump to conclusions too quickly, not realizing that it takes careful reflection and systematic analysis to understand a situation properly. Powerful Ti relies on the concept of cause and effect and wants to discover exactly how two variables influence each other, always readjusting formulas and principles as new facts come in. Powerful Ti knows that fact gathering and fact checking are necessary for creating an accurate mental model of a situation. Haste makes waste because acting on a faulty mental model means having to clean up mistakes, so Ti seeks to prevent mistakes before they happen by making sure to have precise and accurate information before rushing into action. Therefore, to develop Ti: make sure to have the facts before drawing a conclusion and taking action (especially with relationship issues), ensure that you have understood cause-effect properly by testing ideas or hypotheses against empirical evidence (e.g. do not presume to know a person』s motivations or intentions without fact checking), do the necessary research instead of only relying on 「gut feelings」 or uninformed opinions or other people』s authority/expertise, refine your knowledge towards greater accuracy by incorporating a broader variety of viewpoints, systematically determine what information is relevant or irrelevant to a situation and which factors should be assigned greater/less weight, improve your critical thinking skills so that you possess the tools to recognize and evaluate good information and reject bad information (there are many books/courses available), eliminate your poor reasoning habits by studying logical fallacies and cognitive biases.

Without being able to calculate the probability of achieving a desired outcome, your actions will often lead to bad or undesirable results. People with weak Ti often fail to analyze cause and effect accurately, unable to discover the flaws and contradictions in their own thinking and behavior, perhaps even misattributing blame for a poor result and then digging themselves deeper into a problem. Powerful Ti thinks in terms of what impact actions will have, knowing when to hold back or engage in further analysis, trying to formulate robust and reliable principles for guiding one』s actions in the right direction. Powerful Ti owns any poor results it gets and looks for ways to correct mental models and make up for mistakes instead of avoiding or deflecting responsibility. Every 「system」 can break down at some point, so Ti is continuously analyzing for flaws and weaknesses in mental models, identifying and fixing problems in order to maintain good results or consistent improvement. Therefore, to develop Ti: take time to analyze the possible consequences of your actions before taking action, think about whether your actions are coherent and consistent with your beliefs, analyze how you can minimize the negative impact on people when you must do something that goes against the collective good, analyze your options/alternatives carefully so that you can choose the best action instead of rushing into things, learn from your mistakes by analyzing exactly what went wrong and the real reason why, take responsibility for your mistakes by asking yourself how you can change your attitude or behavior to produce better outcomes the next time.
