白話譯文

八月里秋深，狂風怒號，狂風捲走了我屋頂上好幾層茅草。

茅草亂飛，渡過浣花溪，散落在對岸江邊。

飛得高的茅草纏繞在高高的樹梢上，

飛得低的飄飄洒洒沉落到池塘和窪地里。

南村的一群兒童欺負我年老沒力氣，

竟忍心這樣當面做「賊」搶東西，

毫無顧忌地抱著茅草跑進竹林去了。

我嘴唇乾燥也喝止不住，回來後拄著拐杖，獨自嘆息。

一會兒風停了，天空中烏雲像墨一樣黑，

深秋天空陰沉迷濛漸漸黑下來了。

布被蓋了多年，又冷又硬，像鐵板似的。

孩子睡覺姿勢不好，把被子蹬破了。

一下雨屋頂漏水，屋內沒有一點兒乾燥的地方，

房頂的雨水像麻線一樣不停地往下漏。

自從安史之亂之後，我睡眠的時間很少，長夜漫漫，屋漏床濕，怎能挨到天亮。

如何能得到千萬間寬敞高大的房子，

普遍地庇覆天下間貧寒的讀書人，讓他們開顏歡笑，

房子在風雨中也不為所動，安穩得像是山一樣？唉！

什麼時候眼前出現這樣高聳的房屋，

到那時即使我的茅屋被秋風所吹破，我自己受凍而死也心甘情願！
