Some people think that robots are very important for humans』 future development. Others, however, think that robots are a dangerous invention that could have negative effects on society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

With the technological advances of recent years, it is becoming increasingly likely that we will soon see robots that are so advanced that they can perform a plethora of functions that unimaginable to humans. While some individuals fear that these robots could be dangerous and have negative effects on society, I believe that we can harness the technology and that robots will prove very important for humans』 future development.

The reasons that people show concern over robots is not invalid. There are some who are concerned about unemployment, where robots could be used to do the jobs previously only humans could do. In factories for example robots have already started to replace workers manufacturing cars and other products. Other people are anxious because of the lack of control people may one day have over the robots, and await a situation where the robots could violently turn against humans.

However, some believe that there has been little evidence to suggest this possibility thus far and robots have, in contravention of the aforementioned perspective, been incredibly

beneficial. In the medical world, robots are used to perform complex surgeries and procedures, lowering the risks for patients and curing conditions humans previously died from. In the military robots could be used to keep us safe, meaning less soldiers have to risk their lives and also in production robots are used to make high quality products such as high-tech phones, driverless cars and more powerful computers.

As the ability of robots increases, and the technology gets more advanced the possibilities for robots to assist humans seems to me to be infinite. For this reason, and because of the evidence of robots』 positive contributions so far I believe that robots will in fact prove very important for future development of the human race.
