Some people argue that building the underground railway system can ease the pressure on the transport system, while others think building or broadening roads can achieve this. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

這道題目不算是很簡單哦，因為問的問題特別的具體。

支持地鐵：

1. 利用地下空間，地上的車當然就少了

支持修路：

1. 如果去一個地方有了更多的路線可選，當然就不會都堵在一條路上了~

我的觀點：

1. 地鐵適合大城市，小城市的話只能選擇修路啊

正文部分：

Some people believe that traffic pressure can be reduced through improving the underground railway system, but others contend that a better alternative is to build or broaden roads.

On the one hand, the underground railway system can help cities use underground space more efficiently. No matter how huge a city is, its space is limited. However, if governments decide to improve the underground railway system, it means some people do not need to drive their own cars every day because underground railways can send them to stations they want in a shorter time. Then, the number of vehicles in cities will decrease, and there will be less traffic congestion.

On the other hand, building more roads or widening roads can also function to ease the burden on traffic. If governments built more roads, people would have more options when they want to drive to a place. Then, even during commuting time, traffic congestion may not happen so frequently because there are many available routes for travelers no matter which destination they intend to arrive at. Therefore, adding road capacity is also an optimal choice to reduce traffic pressure.

From my own perspective, both surface transport and underground railways can reduce traffic pressure, but governments should make their choices based on their budgets. It is acknowledged that the amount of money for building underground railways is much larger than that for building or broadening roads. Also, a city should not build the underground railway system if it does not have so many commuters. Therefore, large cities can choose either of these two options while medium-scale or small cities should choose to build or widen roads.
