外教給中國學生的英語學習建議（Suggestions to enhance your English skills)

（來源：中國日報網雙語新聞）During my more than ten years of teaching experience in China, I noticed that most of my students were facing obstacles in attaining competence in the English language despite studying for more than six to ten years.以我在中國十多年的教學觀察，儘管學了6-10年的英語，但大多數中國學生對英語這門語言的掌握和運用存在困難。As an educator, I was motivated to seek effective means to help the Chinese students in general and my own in particular in handling the challenges of mastering the language.作為一名教學工作者，我積極去尋找可以幫助中國學生以及我自己學習外國語言的有效方法。After talking with my students and discussing the issue with Chinese as well as foreign English teachers, I came up with the following suggestions to guide them toward gradually but certainly achieving fluency in the English language:通過我跟我的學生以及我的中外同行的交流，我提出了以下的建議。我覺得這些建議可以指導學生循序漸進而且有效地流暢掌握英語這門語言。·You must comprehend the fact that it is your privilege to make mistakes and it is your teacher』s responsibility to correct them.第一．記住在學習過程中犯錯是你的特權，老師就是為糾正你的這些錯誤而設的。·You ought to believe that by no means, asking questions signifies being stupid. 「if one asks a question, one might feel fool for 5 minutes but if one doesn』t ask, one will be fool for life.」第二，你應該深信，問問題決不代表自己笨。「如果一個人問了一個問題，他/她可能會有5分鐘覺得自己很愚蠢。但是如果一個人從來不問問題，這個人將會愚蠢一輩子。」·You should eat, sleep, walk and accomplish most tasks in English, which means that you need to be inquisitive about everything that you may encounter in your daily life.第三、將英語的使用和英語的思維融入到你日常的吃飯，睡覺，走路和更多的其他任務的過程中。這就意味著在日常的生活中你需要時刻保持一個好問好學的心態。·It is recommended that you attempt to make speaking proper English a habitual activity.第四，建議你嘗試把說正確的英語當成一個習慣性活動。·You suggest to your teachers to conduct classes in a pure English environment. Switching from English to Chinese and vice-versa is an exhausting and confusing process for you.第五，你可以向老師建議在課堂上創造全英文的環境。無論是英文轉換到中文還是中文轉換到英文對你而言都是一個費力不討好的過程。·You must cease from referring to the useless process of translating English into Chinese and vice-versa.第六，切莫將英文轉換成中文或者中文轉化成英文來學習。·It would be beneficial to your learning process if you enhance your English resources on a daily basis by learning new vocabulary and expressions and immediately use them in sentences.第七， 如果你能夠在日常生活中學習新的單詞短語並立即用到句子當中，提高你的英語儲備，這將會對你有益。·Classes are golden opportunities for you to practice your English since you will have a teacher available to correct your mistakes. Consequently, you should seize them to be an active participant in classes.第八， 課堂是練習英語的黃金機會，因為老師會在旁邊糾正你的錯誤。所以，你應抓住機會，在課堂上積极參与。·You ought to make practicing English a daily habit. You can practice with a classmate or with your roommates.第九，你應該每天都練習說英語。你可以和同學或室友一起練習。·You need to clear, from your mind, the idea that you have to sit down to learn English. Any place at any time is a golden opportunity to polish your English.第十，你需要把學英語就得坐下來的這個想法從腦子裡驅逐出去。任何地點任何時間都是改進英語的黃金機會。·You ought to carry an electronic or a small dictionary in your pocket wherever you go. You might need it to look up a word that you may hear or see on a banner.第十一， 去任何地方都可以放電子詞典或小的字典在口袋裡以便你需要用到它時可以隨時查找。·You should carry in your pocket a pen and a blank piece of paper which you could use them to doodle English words while you are waiting for a bus, a class or a meal in a restaurant.第十二， 你應該把一支筆和一些白紙放在口袋裡，這樣在你等公交，上課前或在餐廳等餐時可以拿出來隨意拼寫單詞。·You may cut out an article or make a copy of a page from an English book and put it in your pocket to look at it while you are bored or watching television (during commercials).第十三， 你可以剪下文章或複印英語書里一頁並放入口袋，當你無聊或看電視的廣告期間拿出來看。·You have to organize your studying habits to allocate some time to pursue your favorite activities to achieve balance in your life and to minimize your resentment toward my studies.第十四， 注意平衡。 分配出時間去做其他的你最愛的活動，平衡生活，最大化減少對我提出的學習方法產生排斥。I hope that teachers of the English language would take the time to discuss the issue using my article as the basis for the discussion with their students in order to guide them toward transcending their obstacles to master English.我希望英語教師們可以抽出時間，以我的文章為出發點，和學生們討論，最終能指導他們跨過障礙，精通英語。Finally, I wish all students of the English language exceptional success in their endeavors to be fluent in it.最後，我祝願所有努力學習英語以達到精通的學生能取得非凡的成功。
