In some countries, there has been an increase in the number of parents who educate their children themselves at home instead of sending them to school. Do the advantages of home education outweigh disadvantages?

More and more parents do not choose to send their children to school because they decide to educate their children at home. I think its disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Admittedly, children may be better looked after at home. When there are many students in a class, teachers at school may not satisfy needs of every child effectively, and some children, especially introverted ones, may be neglected by teachers. However, if children receive home education, parents can answer all questions of their children to help them better absorb knowledge of different subjects. Nevertheless, home education has more disadvantages.

To begin with, many parents do not know how to educate children in a systematic way. It is acknowledged that teachers in school have abundant knowledge in different fields, so they are responsible for teaching different subjects. Ordinary parents may have knowledge in one subject, but it may be impossible for them to have knowledge in several subjects. Then, if they really teach their children those subjects they are not good at, they may just rely on their own experience.

In addition, home education does not provide children with the opportunity to interact with peers. Communicative skills in the current era are really important, and it is better to learn how to cooperate with others from an early age. If children go to school, they can make a lot of friends and play with them, during which process their social skills can be exercised. However, if they just receive education at home by parents, they lose the chance of playing with other children, and it may affect their communication skills in the future.

To sum up, educating children by parents at home may bring more disadvantages, considering that parents do not have knowledge in all courses, and children cannot improve social skills.
