You might double cleanse each day, apply eye cream and serums each night and follow a diligent Sunday face mask routine.

But if you still find that youre breaking out regularly, it might be that you need to look at the tiny daily habits you follow in order to check up on your skin.

While genetics and certain foods play a huge part in causing acne, the Melbourne-based founder of Korean beauty brand, Nudie Glow, Ruby Wang, revealed that there are other little harmless things you could be doing every day that are ruining your complexion.

1. Youre not cleaning your phone screen

We carry them around everywhere, and on average spend 23 days on them each year.

But if youre being honest with yourself, can you really put a date on when you last cleaned your smartphone?

Its not pleasant to imagine the amount of bacteria that hides on the surface of your smartphone, Ruby, 30, explained to FEMAIL. Then, when you picture that phone resting for hours on your face, is it any wonder youre breaking out.

To remedy the situation, she recommends swiping your phone screen with a paper towel and some alcohol at the end of each day to get rid of buildup.

You can also clean your face once youve been on the phone for a while with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water.

2. Youre not changing your pillowcase enough

While many of us might change our pillowcases more often than we do our duvet covers, if you find that youre getting acne on one side of your face, it might mean that you need to up the frequency.

Noticed some raised bumps appearing on just one side of your cheeks?, Ruby said. And this side also happens to be the side you sleep on?

Its time to start changing your pillowcase more often - at least one to two times a week - to protect your face from any built-up dead skin cells, oil, dirt and bacteria on your pillowcase.

You can also sleep on a silk pillowcase to help to promote healthy skin.

3. Youre not cleaning your sunglasses

Like your mobile phone, your sunglasses need regular care and attention.

Because thanks to the buildup of sweat, you can often get clogged pores or breakouts along the bridge of your nose, the front and back of your ears or where your lenses rest on your cheeks.

Ruby recommends you take time to clean your sunglasses each day after youve used them, especially the areas which come into contact with your face.

After an especially sweaty day in your sunnies, she also recommends exfoliating - especially around the nose area to draw out any impurities.

4. Youre touching your face too much

It can be hard to resist touching your face sometimes - but this is one of the daily habits that is causing you to break out.

From resting on our hands when were tired to touching our cheeks when applying makeup, our faces are frequently in contact with our bacteria-ridden hands, Ruby explained.

Not only does it cause breakouts, those with sensitive skin who are prone to redness should also avoid touching your face to reduce any random flare-ups.
「這不僅會導致痤瘡,對於那些面部容易出現痤瘡、擁有敏感皮膚的人來說,我們應該避免觸摸面部來減少痤瘡的複發。」Try spritzing your complexion with a hydrating mist in the middle of the day to boost hydration.

5. You let your hair constantly touch your face and body

Along a similar vein to touching your face, your locks are also laden with bacteria that isnt helping your skin.

If you suffer from clusters of acne around your hairline, it might be a sign that your hair products are affecting your skin, Ruby said.

When the weather is humid, the skincare expert recommends wearing your hair up rather than down to keep bacteria from getting near your face.

If youre getting acne on your back - or bacne - she said that after youve shampooed and conditioned your locks, you ought to cleanse the skin on your back thoroughly.

6. You dont moisturise enough

If you think that moisturising in the morning is enough, you might want to rethink your regime.

For in fact, you should be moisturising at least twice a day.

Opt for a lightweight, oil-free, water-soluble product to keep the blemishes balanced.

7. Youre not getting enough sleep
睡眠時間不夠
Its one of the hardest habits to get right - but not getting enough sleep really does affect your skin.

When we sleep, our cortisol levels reduce, helping to rejuvenate your skin, but without proper sleep those levels can stay elevated which could lead to acne breakouts, Ruby said.

Try to ensure you get between seven and nine hours sleep each night, and put a leave-on overnight skin treatment before you go to bed.
