第一類：這些英文縮寫基本都由幾個單詞的首字母組成。

如UN就是United Nations在簡訊中；亦或是發音相似的常用詞單代替，數字最被常用來代替某些單詞的發音，來看看這些例子：

OIC －Oh I see

BRB －Be right back

LOL －Laughing out loud

ASAP －As soon as possible

BTW －By the way

FYI －For your information

JK －Just kidding

TTYL －Talk to you later

第二類：縮寫

被縮寫簡潔後的單詞發音仍舊與原來無差別，如plz為please，b為be，意思仍是一樣的，去掉不必要的部分同時保持意思明確。數字8有時代表eight的音，因此later變成了l8r。數字4也常用於替代for 就象2取代to。看這些SMS（簡訊常用）的縮寫：
