Do you not share the sorrow of the rest of human beings? Human beings throughout the world have various forms of fear and various forms of pleasure. They suffer as you suffer. They pray, they do all kinds of absurd ceremonies as you do, seeking stimulation, sensation through ceremonies as you do.

你難道沒有和其他人類共有同樣的悲傷嗎？全世界的人類都有各式各樣的恐懼和各式各樣的快樂。他們和你一樣遭受著痛苦。就像你一樣，他們祈禱，他們執行各種各樣荒唐的儀式，他們像你一樣通過各種儀式尋求刺激和感官享受。

So you share the consciousness of all humanity; you are the entire humanity. First see it logically. Every human being on this earth, whatever be his religion or belief, suffers. Every human being suffers, deeply or superficially, and tries to evade suffering.

所以你和全人類共有同一個意識，你就是整個人類。首先理性地看到這一點。這個地球上的每一個人，無論他的宗教或者信仰是什麼，都受著苦。每個人都或深或淺地遭受著痛苦，然後試圖避開痛苦。

So this consciousness, which we have considered 『mine』, this 『personal consciousness』 is not a fact. Because all human beings living on this marvellous, beautiful earth—which we are carefully destroying —go through the same problems, the same pain, anxiety, loneliness, depression, tears, laughter, contradiction, and conflict between man and woman, husband and wife.

所以，這個意識——我們認為它是屬於「我的」——這個「個人的意識」並非事實。因為生活在這個神奇而美麗的地球上的所有人類——我們正在精心地破壞著這個地球——經歷著同樣的問題，同樣的痛苦、焦慮、孤獨、沮喪、眼淚、歡笑、矛盾，以及男人與女人、丈夫與妻子之間的衝突。

So in your consciousness are you individuals? Because that is what you are: your consciousness. Whatever you think or imagine, whatever your tendencies, aptitudes, talents or gifts, all that is shared by all other human beings, who are exactly as you are, similar to you. This is a logical fact. So you are the entire humanity; you are not an individual.

所以說在你的意識里，你能算是個體嗎？因為那就是實際的你：你的意識就是你。無論你思考或者想像什麼，無論你的傾向、能力、天賦或者天分是什麼，這一切都為其他所有人類所共有，他們和你完全一樣，和你極其相似。這是一個符合邏輯的事實。所以你就是全體人類，你並不是一個個體。

You hear the statement that your consciousness, with all its reactions and actions, is shared by all humanity, because every human being goes through desperation, loneliness, sorrow, and pain as you do. How do you listen to that statement? Do you reject it, or do you examine it? Do you investigate it or merely say, 『What nonsense』? Which is it that you are doing—not tomorrow but now? What is your reaction to it?

你聽到了這個表述：你的意識，連同它所有的反應和行動，為全體人類所共有，因為每個人都經歷著絕望、孤獨、悲傷和痛苦，就像你一樣。你是怎樣去聽這個表述的？你是拒絕它，還是檢視它？你是探究它，還是只說一句「真是胡說八道」就完了？你做的是哪一樣——不是明天，而就是現在？你對它的反應是什麼？

Either you listen to the depth of it, the sound of it, the beauty of it, the immensity of it, with its tremendous responsibility, or you treat it superficially, verbally, and say, 『Yes, I understand it intellectually.』 Intellectual comprehension has very little meaning. It must be in your blood, in your guts, and out of that comes a different quality of the brain that is holistic, not fragmentary. It is the fragment that creates disorder. We, as individuals, have fragmented the human consciousness and therefore we live in disorder.

你要麼聆聽它的深度、它的聲音、它的美、它的無限，以及它所包含的巨大責任，要麼從表面上、從口頭上去對待它，然後說，「是的，我從道理上明白了。」智力上的理解沒什麼意義。它必須進入你的血液、你的骨髓，從中就可以產生一個截然不同的大腦，它是完整的，毫無分裂的。正是分裂導致了混亂。我們作為個體，已經分裂了人類的意識，因此我們生活在混亂之中。

When you realize that you are the entire humanity—that is what love is. Then you will not kill another, you will not harm another. You will move out of all aggression, violence, and the brutality of religions. So our consciousness is one with all humanity. You don』t see the beauty of it, the immensity of it. You will go back to your own pattern, thinking that you are all individuals, fighting, striving, competing, each trying to fulfil your own beastly little self.

當你認識到你就是全體人類——那就是愛。那麼你就不會去殺害別人，你也不會去傷害別人。你會擺脫所有的攻擊性、暴力以及宗教的殘酷。所以說你的意識和所有人類是一體的。但是你沒有看到它的美、它的無限。你還會回到你自己的模式中去，以為你們都是個體，不停地鬥爭、奮鬥、競爭，每個人都試圖滿足自己那渺小無比的自我。

Yes, sir, this means nothing to you because you will go back to your own way of life. So it is much better not to listen to all this. If you listen to truth and don』t act on it, it acts as poison. That is why our lives are so shoddy and superficial.

是的，先生，這對你來說毫無意義，因為你還會回到你自己的生活方式中去。所以你大不如不來聽這些講話。如果你聽到真理卻不行動，那麼它就是毒藥。這就是為什麼我們的生活會如此膚淺卑劣的原因。
