按舞種分，不同的舞種，不僅動作不同，所用的舞鞋、音樂、服裝也都不盡相同。科學研究表明，舞蹈不僅能夠讓人保持健康的體形，還能使人變得更加快樂、更加合群。接下來，讓我們一起來看看各舞種用英文怎麼說吧。

Ballet serves as a backbone(主幹) for many other styles of dance, as many other dance genres(流派) are based on ballet. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries. Ballet uses music and dance to tell stories. Ballet dancers have the ability to transport(運送) an audience to another world.

芭蕾舞一直是舞蹈界的舞林正宗，有幾百年的歷史，許多其他的舞蹈種類都發源於或借鑒了芭蕾。芭蕾擅長於用音樂和舞蹈講述故事，它的迷人魅力也恰恰在此：能夠引領觀眾穿越時空。

Jazz Dance 爵士舞

Jazz is a fun dance style that relies heavily on originality(獨創性) and improvisation(即興表演). Many jazz dancers mix different styles into their dancing, incorporating(v.融合 )their own . Jazz dancing often uses bold(大膽的), dramatic(誇張的) body movements. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

爵士強調獨創和即興表演。爵士舞者擅長柔和其他舞種，並在舞蹈中加入自己的表達。大膽而扣人心弦的舞蹈動作，是一大特點。要想跳好爵士舞，需要芭蕾的基礎，培養好的體態和平衡。

Tap Dance 踢踏舞

Tap dancing is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps(踢踏片). Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns(韻律節奏 )and timely beats(節拍).

踢踏舞採用裝有踢踏片的特殊舞鞋，方便舞者舞蹈時伴隨鼓點節拍創造出獨一無二的震撼節奏。氣勢和節奏，讓踢踏舞擁有一份與眾不同的獨特魔力。

Hip-Hop Dance 嘻哈街舞

Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, which has evolved from the hip-hop culture. Improvisation(即興表演) and personal interpretation(n.詮釋) are essential to hip-hop dancing.

嘻哈舞一般伴著嘻哈音樂進行表演，也是嘻哈文化的有機組成部分。它看重即興表演和個人詮釋。

Modern Dance 現代舞

Modern dance is a dance style that rejects(摒棄) many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the of inner feelings. Modern dance was created as a rebellion(反叛) against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography(編舞) and performance.

現代舞擯棄了古典芭蕾的諸多嚴格規條，更加註重於內心情感的表現。作為經典芭蕾的反叛，現代舞強調編舞和表演的獨創性。

Swing Dance 搖擺舞

Swing dance is a lively(充滿活力的) dance style in which couples swing(搖擺), spin(旋轉)and jump together. Swing dancing is a general term that means dancing to swing music, or music that "swings." How can you tell if a song swings? Swing dancers know when a song swings because when they hear it, they can"t stand still.

搖擺舞是一種充滿活力的雙人舞，二人伴著搖擺的音樂，一起搖擺、旋轉，跳躍。如何判斷搖擺舞樂曲？很簡單，如果你會搖擺舞，一聽到這樣的音樂，就會情不自禁搖擺起來。

Belly Dance 肚皮舞

Belly dance is a unique form of dance characterized by sharp(快速猛烈的), rolling movements of the hips and abdomen(腹部). The true origins of belly dancing are debated among enthusiasts(狂熱愛好者).

肚皮舞是一類十分獨特的舞蹈，標誌性的動作是臀部和腹部的快速劇烈轉動。這種古老舞蹈的起源仍是個謎，但卻不妨礙人們對它的喜愛。

Flamenco 弗拉曼柯舞

Flamenco dance is an expressive(具有表現力的) dance form that mixes percussive footwork(步法) with intricate(細緻複雜的) hand, arm and body movements. Flamenco is a Spanish art consisting of three forms: Cante, the song; Baile, the dance; and Guitarra, guitar playing.

弗拉曼柯舞極具表現力，強烈的叩擊步法、複雜精妙的手部、臂膀和肢體動作，使其具有強大的爆發力，熱情、熾烈。弗拉曼柯舞起源於西班牙，通常是即興表演。表演中，舞者配合當地特色的歌唱和吉他演奏，展現其曼妙的舞姿。

Latin Dance 拉丁舞

Latin dance is a fast-paced(快步調的), often sensual(性感的), partner dance characterized by sexy hip movements. However, hip movements are not intentional(刻意的) in any of the Latin dances. The hip motion is a natural consequence of changing weight from one foot to the other.

拉丁舞是一種快步調的性感雙人舞蹈。拉丁舞中有大量的臀部動作，然而這些動作並不是蓄意為之，而是雙腳之間重心轉換帶來的自然律動。拉丁舞又可分為恰恰舞(Cha-Cha)、桑巴舞(Samba)、倫巴舞(Rumba)、牛仔舞(Jive)和鬥牛舞(Paso Doble)等。

Folk Dance 民族舞

Folk dance refers to a variety of dances developed by groups or communities, as opposed to(而不是) being made up by a choreographer(舞蹈家). There are several types of folk dance including Maypole dance(五月柱舞), Morris dance(莫里斯舞), Nordic polska dance(北歐波斯卡舞), square dance(方塊舞), and many more. Folk dances are often performed at social events.

民族舞不是舞蹈家生造出來的，而是不同群體或族群代代相傳的。民族舞通常跟各類慶典、慶祝活動有關，社會性、社交性較強。

交誼舞（ballroom dance），顧名思義，交誼舞得有舞伴，包括了常見的大多數雙人舞：

最後要著重介紹下方塊舞(Square Dancing)。方塊舞是最古老的美國民族舞蹈之一，由幾種不同的舊世界團體舞蹈演變而來，主要來自於英國的舞蹈，或像其他人說的，來自於法國的卡德利爾舞 (French quadrille) 。

主要有下面幾類。

Mountain Dances

舞者圍成大圓圈分單數對與雙數對分別跳的舞蹈，源自英格蘭，流行於美國東南部the Appalachians山脈高地區域。此類舞蹈較為人知的有：Kentucky Running Sets, Tennessee Mountain Dances與Appalachian Circles等。

卡德利爾舞（Quadrilles ）

每四對男女舞伴圍成一個方形，通常由伴奏樂團中的第二小提琴手一面提詞動作口令一面進行的舞蹈。此方形舞源自法國，於十八世紀初至中葉甚為流行，可說是方塊舞的前身。

槍騎兵方塊舞（The Lancers）

與卡德利爾舞非常類似，但更為高雅的方形舞蹈，分別由6/8, 2/4, 4/4等不同節奏的五段舞曲組合而成。女士們著內吊箍圈的長蓬裙，男士則著挺拔耀眼的軍官禮服，該舞自英法傳入後流行於當時上流社會。

Contras

源自英國鄉村舞蹈，舞者面對面排成兩長排，依指揮者在每段樂句結尾前喊出動作口令後，舞者在下個樂句的第一拍踏出舞步，氣氛熱鬧而歡樂。那些動作口令後來多出現於方塊舞中。

Mescolanzas

與Contras不同處，在於隊形是由兩對男女成一橫排面對另兩對男女組成一個單位，平行的各組依口令跳完一段後，與面對者錯肩而過，前進至下一位置與另兩對成新的一組重覆前面的舞步。
