motive 和 motivation 有什麼區別？

既然關注兩個詞的區別，那我們仔細看一下，各種差異

1. motive有兩種詞性，名詞和形容詞（意思是「發動的，導致運動的」 技術術語）；motivation只有一個詞性，名詞

2. 對比名詞詞性下的區別：牛津英英 + 柯林斯高階

（1）motive = a reason for doing sth. 動機，原因，目的
（2）motivation = something that causes you to want to do it 動機
恩，基本沒差，都是做某事的動機

重大差別是：詞語的色彩！Motive往往是不懷好意的動機；motivation則往往是很積極意義上的動機

例句如下：
1. There seemed to be no motive for the murder. 這起謀殺案看不出有什麼動機。（謀殺！謀殺！不是好事）

2. I have an ulterior motive in offering to help you. 我主動提出要幫助你是有私心的。（ulterior這個詞，就很能表達motive的辭彙色彩，而且還是一些suspicious的動機）

3. the profit motive 謀利的動機（這些資本家們！）

相反，我們看看motivation的各種例句：

1. Most people said that pay was their main motivation for working. 大部分人說勞動報酬是他們工作的主要動機。（工作工作，很積極！）

2. Hes intelligent enough but lacks motivations. 他很聰明，但缺乏積極性。（積極性，很積極！）

3. All research proposals must be accompanied by a full motivation. 所有研究計劃書均須詳述研究動機。（這也是沒有任何消極含義）
