I cant help but feel like Yao played in the wrong era. With his touch, if he played now, he would be launching 3s. It would have lowered the amount of wear and tear from the constant low-post Rockets offense of that time

I am still shocked this guy is this good. The way he drives to rim, adjusts mid air, dunking, shooting.. everything. I know he is under-sized but all those scouts missed all these good things about him.

So so happy for Utah because they are not a great FA destination and they were able to fill the hole Gordon Haywards move left.

Isnt he really a point guard now? He isnt undersized for that position, at 63". He is skinny though like most rookies.

I dont remember the source, but theres a story of how the Jazz gave Mitchell tape of basically every elite guard and how they finish at the rim to study over the summer. Quin expected him to probably pick up a couple things, but when Mitchell came back, he had mastered every single finish they gave him to study.

That just shows 1) how much of a sponge he is for this stuff and 2) just how much better the NBA is for player development than in college/high school/AAU. He had so much untapped potential, but just a resource that seems as simple as game-film took his game to a whole new level.
