中國女生在美國因托福舞弊被捕並遭驅逐出境

今天從波士頓環球報的網站上偶然看到一則新聞，4名中國女生因為在托福考試中舞弊而被捕入獄，經審判後被驅逐出境。

「A 21-year-old woman from China was sentenced in federal court on Monday after pleading guilty to defrauding the Department of Homeland Security by cheating on a college entrance exam, prosecutors said.

Leyi Huang was sentenced to time served in prison and ordered to be deported immediately. She was one of four Chinese nationals arrested and charged for their roles in a college admissions exam scam in 2017, prosecutors said.

Huang entered into an plot with 25-year-old Yue Wang, a student at the Hult International Business School in Cambridge, in which Wang agreed to take the TOEFL English-language test under Huang』s identity. Wang also agreed to take the exam for two other students, 24-year-old Shikun Zhang and 21-year-old Xiaomeng Cheng.

In March 2016, Wang took the exam using Huang』s Chinese passport and TOEFL registration in an exam center in Burlington, authorities said. Huang, who had failed to meet Penn State University』s minimum TOEFL score on her own, was later accepted to the university using the fraudulent exam score. She was then granted a student visa, based on her admittance, that allowed her to remain in the United States while completing her studies.

Wang was also deported to China after pleading guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States in September 2017, according to authorities. Officials said Wang received nearly $7,000 to take the TOEFL on behalf of the three students.」
