Relative clause

Relative clauses 關係從句，一方面提供更多的信息 ，一方面避免重複。

The couple posted a Christmas present to their daughter, who lives in South Africa.

如果不這麼寫，則需要寫兩個句子來表達一樣的信息。

The couple posted a Christmas present to their daughter. Their daughter lives in South Africa.

Relative clauses 的另一個作用是 ，通過調整句子順序，強調某一個東西，或某人。

This is the book which we』re reading at the moment.

對比 We』re reading this book at the moment. 強調了book。

兩類Relative clause

1 ， 指向一個 名詞短語

He』s going to show you the rooms that are available.

2， 指向整個句子。

But I think Peter was a bit upset about that, which is understandable.
