That』s the Cleveland Cavaliers ranking defensive efficiency this season,

which is tied with the worst team in the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets.

How bad is that?

Well it』s not good for their repeat chances.

Can』t win a championship if your defense stinks.

95% of all champions since 1880 finish with a top 10 defense in the regular season.

Including each of the past 15 title-winners.

The exceptions, the 1995 Rockets who finished twelfth,

and the 2001 Lakers who 21st.

Cavs』 fans must be clinging to that Lakers squad as the team that flipped the switch.

But here』s the thing about that,

that Lakers team flipped the switch long before the play offs.

Playing some of their best defense in March and April.

Cavs, totally different story.

They ranked 29th defensively since the all star break.

Over that time the Cavs has lost more than they』ve won.

But that Lakers team won 71% of their games after the all start break,

on top of an improved defense.

So if you』re wondering if the Cavs can flip the switch,

history is not on their side with that 22.
