看電影學英文 每日一劇：Here and There

在肖申克救贖電影，摩根佛里曼的的旁白(voice-over)，高級而優美，通俗而不落俗套，看這段他描述男主角安迪越獄(prison break)的經過，本片經典之作

注意聽這句：

An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time.

瑞德說，安迪鑿通牆壁的關鍵是地質學(geology)的壓力(pressure)和時間(time)，但是An ice age here, million years of mountain building there是什麼意思？

電影中譯：「刑期如同冰河時代，長得彷佛有幾百萬年，地質學就是探討壓力和時間」

不僅和原文不符，也不合前後文！

摩根佛里曼到底是什麼意思？

here and there = everywhere (到處), 摩根佛里曼拆開來用

an ice age here, 這裡有冰河時期，代表壓力(pressure)

million years of mountain building there, 那裡有百萬年造山運動，時間(time)
