GMAT句子改錯中的獨立主格結構講析

獨立主格的理解對於大部分備考GMAT的考生們來說，是一個比較大的障礙點，要想跨過這個難點，首先我們要明白什麼是獨立主格，獨立主格有什麼特點，如何將獨立主格運用到具體考題里等等問題。

獨立主格的英語表達為Absolute Phrase，顧名思義，它是一種修飾成分，並不是完整的句子。在英語中任何一個句子都要有主謂結構，而在這個結構中，沒有真正的主語部分和謂語部分，但又在邏輯上構成主謂或主表關係。所以這裡，需要大家從二個不同角度來看待獨立主格，一個是從語法層面看，獨立主格是修飾成分。另外一個是從邏輯語義層面看，獨立主格具有邏輯主謂關係。並且，獨立主格結構在句中一般做狀語功能，多用於書面表達中。

獨立主格結構可以分為很多種類型，下面，我們就GMAT考題中經常出現的二種類型來稍作解析。

獨立主格類型一：

此類型的獨立主格分為二個部分構成，前一部分+後一部分。前一部分是名詞、代詞或名詞+代詞；後一部分一般是非謂語動詞。

舉例1：The work done, we went home. 工作完成後，我們就回家了。

分析：the work done是獨立主格結構，前一部分是名詞the work，後一部分是過去分詞done。

舉例2：Weather permitting, they will go on an outing to the beach tomorrow. 如果天氣允許的話，他們將在明天組織一次海濱小游。

分析：weather permitting是獨立主格結構，前一部分是名詞weather，後一部分是現在分詞permitting。

獨立主格類型二：

此類型的獨立結構分為三個部分構成，又稱之為with型的獨立主格，with型的獨立主格結構與主句邏輯關係最緊密，也是GMAT考試中最常考的獨立主格結構類型。

舉例1：The boy stands there, with his back against the wall. 那個男孩背朝著牆站在那裡。

分析：開頭為標誌詞with，前一部分是名詞+代詞his back，後一部分是介詞短語 against the wall。

舉例2：Without a word more spoken, she left the meeting room. 她沒再說什麼話就離開了會議室。

分析：開頭為標誌詞without，前一部分是名詞word，後一部分是過去分詞spoken。

最後，我們一起來做一道GMAT句子改錯題目：

例題：The results of the companys cost- cutting measures are evident in its profits, which increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it fell over the last two years.

A. which increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it fell

B. which had increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it had fallen

C. which have increased five percent during the first three months of this year after falling

D. with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after falling

E. with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after having fallen

解析：根據題乾的邏輯語義，劃線部分是在解釋說明profits，告訴我們profits有什麼增長變化。對比選項，發現DE用的是with型的獨立主格結構（with a five percent increase during the first three…），根據獨立主格定義和功能，不能直接修飾前面的名詞profits，排除DE。在ABC里選擇，只有C的現在完成時正確，故正確答案為C。
