2018.1.06

Task 1

It is not

easy for people to save money. Do you know some ways to save money?

For me, the best means to save money is to

use coupons and search for discounts information.

I download many useful popular apps on my

cellphones, including MEItuan, popular-pitching(大眾點評),「where to eat」to

get coupons and discounts. Last Saturday, I decided to invite my girlfriend to

a refined steak-house. Nothing came to my mind, and I didn』t want to squander

my money, so I decide to let those apps to pitch one for me. Then, a restaurant

named 「 Uncle steak-hut」 is recommended. Surprisingly, it offered a coupon of

60% discount plus a special romance table setting. This was a good deal. So I

booked a table.

We ordered a great deal of food, including

two steaks, a series of side dishes and desserts. With the discount, I only

spent 500 on those. Those items could be worth 700 or more at other places. Those

apps on my cellphone are really helpful.

Task2

Some

countries have approved 「homeschool」 as part of education. What is your opinion

on this?

Every

coin has two sides. Homeschool, to me, have these advantages and disadvantages.

Homeschool

will limit the social range for kids. in other words, kids don』t have

sufficient accesses to his peers. Suppose a kid homeschools for 6 years. He

would only need to meet his teachers and parents. He would feel quite lonely. This

might cause him to have social-phobia in the future.

However,

homeschool is good because it can prevent school-bullying. Since kids only have

to meet his teachers and parents. Those adults won』t hurt or bully him. For

example, if a kid fails to understand certain class materials or make a scene(出醜) at home, nobody will tease him but tell him

gently and correct his behavior.

So, there

is no ground(土壤) for bullies.

1.13nowadays

teachers tend to leave homework as group assignment rather than individual

assignment. Discuss one advantage and one disadvantage of this.

Putting

homework as group assignments is like a double-edged sword for sure.

The

advantage of this approach is to force students to team-work and cooperate. Most

of time, teachers even assign random students to form groups to work together. Here

is the rationale behind this. Like my college management professor said: this

is for the real working scenario. As students join the workforce, they don』t

have choices to choose who they want to work with. So, by doing this in

college, students may get used to this kind of situation as they graduate.

The

drawback of this approach is also obvious—unfair grading. That is to say, some

students who do the most part of the project might end up having the same grade

with ones with little contribution. Take myself as an example. i had a research

project on jazz music. I did most part of the research, and wrote 2 songs. But

my partner only did some side works. We had a same grade. That was pretty

unfair to me.

when you

have disagreement with your friends or family on controversial issues, which do

you prefer: to persuade others or to reserve opinions

I don』t

have a forceful or a fastidious personality(強勢挑剔的性格), so I always choose to reserve my opinions.

For

example, my girlfriend and I have distinctive taste about food. She likes

spicy, chilly food, like spicy shrimp. But I prefer light diet like

steamed-fish. I can』t hold the intensity of the spice she likes. But instead of

persuading her, I just let it go. It is natural for a couple to have

distinctive taste I guess. So every time we dine together, I order my light

food, like steamed fish, steamed broccoli. She ordered those spicy fried dish. We

have no trouble about that and both enjoy the meal. So I believe that forcing

others is not always a good choice.

1.27

Task 1:What do you think can improve your

local community and make it a better place to live?

To improve the local community, I would like

to plant some trees.

Trees can help people to have better moods. According

to survey, 90% of the people choose to live and work in cities with more shade,

like Nanjing and Chengdu. Those shades bring people serenity since trees can

function as noise-absorbers. Traffic noise can be alleviated by trees. Also,

watching green plants instead of grey concrete buildings can help to relax

people』s eyes.

Second, planting trees can help to improve

air quality and prevent sand storms. Beijing used be a city of sandstorms. People

constantly complained about it. Several years ago, government took action to

plant a great deal of trees. So, the air gets better and sand storms are no

longer to be a problem.

Task2: Some

people like to make decision based on their own experience while other people

prefer to ask others for help such as family and friends. Which do you prefer

and why?

I prefer

to make decision according to my own experience because I am always confident

about my own choice.

When I

was in middle school, English was my main subject. My teachers and friends

recommended me to focus more on the grammar and readings. They put a list of exercise

books for me to do. But I chose to work on my listening and speaking first. I

spent most of my time listening and reading after the tapes and videos while my

friends were struggling with grammar multiple-choice questions. Eventually, I become

the one who can communicate naturally with American dudes and had 2 American

girl friends.

1.28

Task 1:

talk about an event happened at school that had a negative start but eventually

turned positive.

When I

was at 9th grade, my math is my pain in the ass. I had no genuine

interest on that subject and was reluctant to study more on that subject. That

led to a serious consequence. My GPA was dragged down since I got a C on my

math. Instead of drift myself(放任自流), I determined to bounce back. I started to use electronic device to

record lectures on class. Besides finishing my homework, I found extra drills

to work on, including geometry, algebra and calculous. I gradually had

improvements on my prompt math quizzes, and finally I got an A. Since then, I

realized that there is nothing I couldn』t nail(搞定).

Task 2: Professors

shouldn』t allow students to record class lectures. Do you agree or disagree to

this policy?

I

disagree with this proposal.

Recording

lectures on class is actually a good way for students to study after-class. Many

professors have fast lecture speed, so that students will miss some of the key

points of class. recording it class can easily avoid this problem. Students can』t

listen to their tapes after class just case they don』t lose any important

materials mentioned by professors. Take myself as an example. In my American

history class, my professor talked fast and rarely wrote on blackboard. So I

always lost thread about his class afterschool. But as I recorded lectures, I

could use my tapes to reflect all the class materials, helping me to finish his

assigned papers.

2.04

Task1:

which of the following do you think have the greatest influence on you?

family,teachers, friends?

I think

my parents have the most influence on me especially my father.

Father

plays good piano and has faculty of music. He always likes to play the piano

for a while after dinner or whenever he is free. So he gradually cultivated my

musical taste. I appreciated a variety of music including jazz, hip-hop, and

classic.

Besides a

connoisseur, I also inherit his talents of performing music. I can caress the

notes of piano while humming the melodies(撫摸音符,哼唱旋律). I have been invited to perform on stage in my school and colleges

several times and won wide appeal. also, I am the focus in KTV. I can sing a various

genres of songs.

「caress the notes of piano while humming

the melodies」 「cultivate musical tast」等。

Task2: do

you agree or disagree to the statement: people should always participate in

activities which they have talent in or are good at.

I agree

with the idea that people should frequently go to their familiar activities.

People

constantly joining activities of their talents can cultivate confidence. For

example, as a dance genius go clubbing, dancing at the center of stage, showing

off his signature moves(標準性舞步), like moonwalk(太空步),

people will scream for him. He will gain so much popularity(關注度—— and believe himself is the best. Moreover,

this trend will be embedded(自信傳遞) in his daily life as he faces other difficulties.

Also, by

doing so is a good way to make friends. There is a law of alpha(阿爾法定律) suggesting that people tend to get closer

with most popular figures in any occasion(情景).

Suppose a guy on club has all eyes on him(萬眾矚目). He will easily win applause and some people are even willing to buy

drinks for him. Moreover, some talent agents(星探)might

offer him a chance to go to Hollywood.

全篇有很多生動細節:」signature moves, scream, has on eyes on him」等
