In modern society, it is possible to go shopping, work and communicate via the Internet without face-to-face contact with one another. To what extent do you think this is a positive or negative development?

With the advent of information age, the way people live, work, play and learn has undergone a noticeable and far-reaching transformation(科技類話題固定開頭). In this case ,on-line shopping, chatting and even working have become prevalent among ordinary people; bringing about greater convenience and higher efficiency. Despite that, diminishing face-to-face communication is also a matter of concern in modern societies.

It has to be admitted that the communication nowadays is far more efficient than ever before, with various kinds of communication methods which are commonly free. Accordingly, contact and communication among people are getting more and more frequent, without worrying about the distance or cost. For example, working at home saves the trouble of daily commuting（班車上下班，通勤） and has become a trend in many vocations. Another case in point is that（例如） on-line shopping represents the future development of commerce, which allows customers to compare, select, pay for and receive the goods at home without wasting time in shopping centers.(讓步段，好處一個是人們的交流更頻繁，不存在地域障礙，通過兩個例子來分析，注意大家一定要列舉題目中出現的例子，比如在家辦公，比如網路購物。)

The new life patterns seem to be attractive, but their adverse effects have also drawn people』s attention. People do not visit their friends and relatives as often as before, and the Internet appears to have dominated（主導） their social lives. They send greetings via emails or short messages, considering it unnecessary to meet people in person. As a consequence, their relationships become alienated（隔離=isolated） unconsciously. Besides, a growing number of teenagers get addicted to(沉溺於) socializing in the virtual space（虛擬空間） and therefore the development of social skills in real life is seriously impeded（阻礙=hindered/hampered）. Some of them become introverted or autistic(內向或者自閉) as a result of the overuse of on-line chatting tools.

In conclusion, it is an encouraging development that mankind has so many options for interpersonal communication. However, people should keep in mind that technical tools can make people more distant rather than closer if used excessively(傾向型觀點一般都是讓步句或者轉折句收尾). After all, fire is a good servant, but a bad master（科技類表示主觀點的套句諺語：不要過度依賴）.
