The Luftwaffe carried out Operation Eissto? (Ice Assault) with the objective of smashing the Soviet fleet at Kronstadt, which was well-protected by anti-aircraft guns. 62 Stukas, 70 bombers and 50 Bf-109s were deployed and managed to inflict damage on thirteen Soviet warships, but not a single one was sunk.
