  某位留學美國的小夥伴們跟索引留學的小編抱怨,你看我費勁搞票,他還說我「壞」,我招誰惹誰了?小編納悶了,誰說你壞了?這位小夥伴說「Wicked」可不就是「壞的,魔鬼的」意思么?

  這位小夥伴們你信不信,你過了英語托福,小托福分數高高,英語過了四六級來美國後,照樣跟美國人交流起來很費勁,聽不懂人家說什麼呢?這裡的「Wicked」根本就不是「壞的」的意思好么?這裡是「好極啦!」的意思呀?問誤會是怎麼產生的,大多是因為留美的小夥伴們不知道人家美國人俚語中的重點單詞吧?

  眾所周知的,「俚語」就是一種語言的非正式形式,俚語的應用可以使嘴唇最大限度的放鬆,同時保證雙方交流的舒服程度,所以,在日常生活中,在你跟你同學,小夥伴們,寄宿家庭成員們交流的時候,俚語的應用比起你在課本上學習的那些「正式語言」應用的要廣很多!俚語中的這些辭彙意思不是它本身的意思,而是根據情境,語境的意思。

1 UNREAL

不是「不真實的」這個意思,在美式俚語中,這是」 unbelievably cool or brilliant」(非同尋常的酷,絕妙的,極好的,很贊的)意思!

例句:I love this party, it』s just unreal!(好到不像真的!哈哈!)

2 PROPS

尊重,認可

例句:I know he failed the test, but you』ve got to give him props for trying.

3 KUDOS

同樣也是尊敬,認可的意思

例句:Kudos for organising this party. It』s brilliant!

4 BOTTOM LINE

重點,要點

例句:The bottom line is we just don』t have enough money to make it work.

5 DISS

不尊敬

例句:Stop dissing her behind her back. Show some respect!

6 DIG

十分喜歡某件東西,某件事情

例句:Hey, I dig your new style. Where did you buy that T-shirt?

7 BOB』S YOUR UNCLE

一般說來,這句話在英國比較常用,用在句末,相當於「That』s it!」。

例句:How did you make this cake? It』s delicious!

Well, I just mixed in the batter thoroughly, poured it into a cake pan, baked it for 30 minutes and Bob』s your uncle!

8 BUDGE UP

移動位置,余處空間

例句: I want to sit down too, could you budge up a little please?

9 ACE

有兩個意思,一是十分酷炫,絕好的事情或東西,另一種是,輕易就把事情做到完美!

例句:– Ace! I just got a promotion at work!

– Robert aced his physics exam!

10 ALL RIGHT?

等同於:Hello,How are U?

例句:All right?

Good thanks, you all right?

11 FULL OF BEANS

很有活力,精力的意思

例句:All the children were full of beans at the party today. I couldn』t get any of them to sit still!

12 BLATANT

很明顯的

例句:She』s blatantly very annoyed, everyone can see it apart from you.

13 PEAR SHAPED

一些事情變成了災難

例句:I was trying to organise a surprise birthday party for her, but it』s all gone pear shaped!

14 PIECE OF CAKE

人們覺得某件事情很容易就能辦到或是在吹牛時,一般會這麼說!

例句:What did you think of the exam? I thought it was really difficult.

No, it was a piece of cake!

15 BLIMEY

驚喜!相當於咱們平常說的「Surprise!」

例句:Blimey, look at all this mess here! I』d only left the house for an hour, and look what you』ve done!

16 BOTCH

這個單詞有兩種用法:『to botch something up』 或是 『to do a botch job』,這兩種用法都是表示,工作不認真,糊弄的意思。

例句:The builder did a terrible job on the roof. He just botched it up, and it still leaks every time it rains!

17 CHEERS

乾杯!這個小夥伴們都知道啦!

例句:Cheers everyone! Happy birthday to John!

18 SMASHING

極好的,很贊的,絕妙的

例句:I had a smashing time on holiday, it was so much fun!

19 SOD』S LAW

等於Murphy』s Law ,意思就是任何可能出現的差錯將會出現。

例句:I wore my pretty new dress, because it was a sunny day, but as soon as I stepped out of the house, it started raining, and I got completely soaked!

例句:I saw Mary after such a long time yesterday! We had a lovely chin wag together, like the good old days.

形容某人因某事而十分高興。

例句:My mum bought me a fantastic car when I passed my driving test. I was chuffed to bits!

22 CRAM

短時間段內的努力學習。

例句:I was so busy with my family before the exam, that I only had three days to cram in all the revision work!

23 NICE ONE

某人做了讓人印象十分深刻的某事。

例句:I published my first book last year, and I』ve already started working on the sequel!

24 CRIKEY

同要給人驚喜時說的「Surprise!」

例句:I went shopping today! (comes in with lots of bags)

兩周,其實其最初形式來源於「Fourteen nights」。

都是食物的意思

例句:I』m going to get some grub for myself from the local takeaway. Do you want anything?

33 BEE』S KNEES

令人難以知心的,令人震驚的某事,某物。

例句:You should see my new sound-system, it』s the bee』s knees!

I don』t like Harvey very much, he thinks he』s the bee』s knees!

例句:I』m so gutted I failed my driving test, again!

廉價,低價的。

例句:I hate my job. I have to work such long hours, and I get paid peanuts.

商量,議價,講價!

例句: The last time I went shopping with my mum, she was haggling for something that was already really cheap!

I managed to haggle the price of this shirt down by 25%!

跟Very一個意思,Jolly good其實就是「Very good」的意思。

例句:Don』t worry, I will pay you back before the end of this month.

38 THROW A SPANNER IN THE WORKS

例句:I managed to keep the surprise a secret, right up until the day before my sister』s birthday, then he threw a spanner in the works by telling her!

時間很短的樹膠,打盹,白天小睡。

例句:Why don』t you try and have a kip before everyone gets here? You won』t have time to rest later.

40 WIND UP

意思很多,如果你是『wind up」某人就是說你取笑某人,但是如果你是『wind up」那就是說你很煩!

例句:John really is a wind-up merchant, but the girl he was picking on was so gullible!

I was just winding her up for fun, but she took offence to it and got really angry!

41 MATE

朋友,兄弟,密友,夥伴!

例句:I』m going to the cinema with my mates tonight.

42 NOT MY CUP OF TEA

不喜歡某事某物。

例句:I don』t really like this sort of music. It』s just not my cup of tea.

43 PORKIES

說謊,是『porky pies』的縮寫,跟Lies是諧音。

例句:Don』t listen to her, she』s telling porkies!

44 ROW

爭論,與「Cow」是諧音。

例句:My brother had a huge row with his girlfriend yesterday. He』s really upset!

45 DONKEY』S YEARS

如果有人跟你說『I haven』t seen you in donkey』s years』,是說明你們已經很久沒見面了。

例句:Hi Sarah! What a surprise to see you here. I haven』t seen you in donkey』s years! How have you been?

46 EASY PEASY

一般是外國孩子才會說的,也就是說做某事很簡單。

例句:I could make that for you, if you like? It』s easy peasy!

47 SORTED

如果有人問你一個工作,你也已經做完了,那麼你就可以這麼說。get it sorted就是告訴別人已經完成了。

例句:What』s happening about that roof leak then?

Oh that』s sorted now. I found a really good builder to do the job.

48 STROP

如果有人十分不開心,難過,那麼你就可以說 『being stroppy』或是 『throwing a strop』。

例句:Janet would you please cheer up? It』s your birthday, don』t be so stroppy!

49 CHEERIO

說「拜拜」的一種友好方式。

例句:Right, I have to go now, see you soon. Cheerio!

50 WANGLE

Have all the luck。

例句:I can』t believe he managed to wangle an upgrade on their airline seats, AND the honeymoon suite in their hotel

51 BLINDING

極好的,很棒的,很贊的。

例句:They had a blinding party after their wedding ceremony. Everyone had such a great time!

52 WONKY

不穩定的,搖晃的。

例句:I can』t eat my dinner at this table. It』s wonky and won』t stop wobbling!

53 ZONKED

形容勞累的,筋疲力盡的。

例句:He had a lot of fun at his birthday party earlier, but he』s completely zonked out now!

54 DODGY

不可信任的,可疑的。

例句:I saw a few dodgy-looking people standing around along that quiet street near our house, so just to be on the safe side, I notified the police.

This food looks a bit dodgy, it might have passed its expiry date. I don』t think we should eat it.

55 LEG IT

等同於 『run』 或是 『run for it』

例句:I went out on Halloween night, and someone jumped out from behind a bush to scare me. I was so frightened, that I just legged it all the way back home!

  來到美國這個國家,就一定要學會人家的這些「暗語」,學會必要的俚語,相關辭彙,那麼在與美國人交流的時候才不至於產生誤會。所以嘛,在覺得朋友說話突然間很奇怪的時候,還是先問問自己的英文水平到底過不過關,是不是引起誤會了吧!
