The legislators are directly elected by citizens of Taiwan. In the Ninth Legislative Yuan, 73

members were elected by local single-member districts, 34 were elected by party-list proportional representation, and 6 were elected by Taiwanese aborigines.

About the parties joined The Legislative Yuan, there are 113 legislators in total, and 68 from DPP, 35 from KMT, 5 from NPP, 3 from PFP, 1 from NPSU, and 1 Independent. From the

The legislators are showing great expectations and confidence for the coming conference, 「with our efforts before, I』m sure that this conference will be academic and professional, we』ll be focusing on the problems which are facing in emergency, also the problems may come in the future, we』re putting in efforts to build the laws better.」

Speaking of the most particularly controversial problem, one of the legislators indicate that

may be the dispute on whether homosexual people should be able to adopt children. 「this is related to the future of people beside the homosexual people themselves, so we take this as a serious problem, because this may cause problems we can』t predict. This should be carefully considered before establishing the law.」

The other question is about surrogacy, some people take this as a insult to women, while others think this is a way for homosexual people to receive their own children. 「This

topic is related to feminism, we have to think widely to solve this problem」, according to one legislator.
