e.g. Why do so many people reach success and then fail?

And if we want to avoid "success-to-failure-syndrome", we just keep following these eight principles, because thats not only how we achieve success, its how we sustain it.

• lead up to success vs go downhill 走上人生巔峰 vs 走下坡路

e.g. So we do everything that leads up to success, but then we get there...And it doesnt take long to go downhill.

• parallel structure: 排比句式

e.g.

Reaching success, I worked hard, I pushed myself. But then I stopped, because I figured, ...

Reaching success, I always tried to improve and do good work. But then I stopped, because I figured, ...

Reaching success, I was pretty good at coming up with good ideas.... But then I stopped, because I figured I was this hot-shot guy...

• creative block n. 江郎才盡

e.g. And the only thing that came was creative block. I couldnt come up with any ideas.

• pour in: to arrive in overwhelming numbers or quantity 湧入

e.g. Then all this money started pouring in. And I got distracted by it.

• get into stuff that I dont love 硬著頭皮去做，做與願違的事

e.g. But then I got into stuff that I didnt love, like management. I am the worlds worst manager, but I figured I should be doing it because...

• a black cloud formed over my head 烏雲罩頂，印堂發黑（?）
• here I am, outwardly..., but inwardly ...我就是兩副面孔，外表笑嘻嘻，心裡喪兮兮

e.g. Well, soon a black cloud formed over my head and here I was, outwardly very successful, but inwardly very depressed.

• Its true what they say, and I didnt believe it until it happened to me. 原來大家說的是真的，我是沒見棺材不落淚。
• money cant buy happiness. 錢不是萬能的
• anti-depressant: 抗抑鬱劑 -> Prozac n.氟西丁 (百憂解)，臨床上用於降低超過65歲人群的自殺風險

e.g. And he put me on auti-depressants.

• drop like a rock 如隕石般墜落，跌

e.g. Well, it didnt take long for business to drop like a rock.

• cut a long story short 閑話少敘，長話短說

e.g. I had fun again, I worked harder and, to cut a long story short, did all the things that took me back up to success.

• it wasnt a quick trip 我這一路走來，也不是一帆風順的

e.g. But it wasnt a quick trip. It took seven years.
