英語作文差？你可能需要提高英語寫作的辭彙搭配能力！

為什麼很多學生英語很好，辭彙量也大，但就是不能寫出很好英語作文呢？除了觀點邏輯方面欠缺以外，地道的英語表達也是許多英語學習者存在的一個問題。很多學生以為寫作文最好要用詞高深，不屑於用簡單常見的辭彙。其實不然，寫作時用詞最重要的要抓住兩點：有效(effective)和準確(precise)。很多時候，往往你所認為的「高冷」單詞，用在某個語境當中會顯得非常不合時宜。

那麼，如何有效提高英語寫作的辭彙搭配呢？有一個最常用方法，也是雅思考生常常使用的備考技能。那就是，Paraphrase。Paraphrase 不但對寫作和口語來說有重要的提升作用，對閱讀和聽力測試也有極大的幫助。

舉個栗子：

Example: Paraphrasing is one of the most important skills to learn before doing your IELTS test.

Paraphrased: Prior to taking the IELTS test, mastering paraphrasing is one of the most crucial things to do.

在例子中，用同義詞來替換辭彙，」 crucial」 替換 」 important」 ，」 prior」 替換 」 before」，以及改變語法和語序重新釋義句子。因此，第二句和第一句雖然用詞， 語法，語序不同， 但是表達一樣的意思。一般Paraphrase的使用方法有四種。

同義詞替換

同義詞是具有相同含義的不同詞語, 用相同的含義替換單詞以產生新的句子。例如，「human」是「people」的同義詞，「attractive」是「beautiful」的同義詞。

例如：

My car needs petrol.

My vehicle requires fuel.

用三個同義詞替換了原句中的單詞從而產生了與原句有相同意思的新句子。 但是有一個雅思考生常見的錯誤要避免， 就是試圖用兩個近義詞替換，這種方法容易讓雅思考官認為用詞不精，影響評分。所以，不要輕易嘗試使用同義詞替換，除非你確定你將使用的辭彙是同義詞是近義詞， 否則會得不償失。

譬如，

Violent crime is on the rise among teenagers.

Violent offences are rising among young people.

把「teenagers」改成「young people」， 雖然這兩個此意思相似，但卻不完全等同。青少年當然是年輕人，不過，年齡在18-30歲之間的青年人也稱為年輕人。Teenager通常是」『adolescents』 or 『young people between the ages of 13-19.」

所以這句話應該改為

Violent offences are rising among adolescents.

調換單詞順序

改變詞序時要注意語法，有時候需要增減單詞或改變單詞的形式以確保句子的語法正確。如果不能保證改變語法正確，便最好不要改變單詞的位置。

1. 原句有多個從句時，則可以更改子句的順序。

As languages such as Spanish, Chinese and English become more widely used, there is a fear that that many minority languages may die out.

通過改變詞序：There is a fear that many minority languages may die out, as languages such as Spanish, Chinese and English become more widely used.

改變詞序以及使用同義詞： There is dismay that many lesser used languages may pass away, as languages such as Chinese, English and Spanish become more broadly spoken.

2. 原句中有形容詞或名詞，可以選擇改變單詞位置並添加一個從句

例如: Learning to manage money is one of the key aspects to adult life.

Learning to manage money is one of the aspects to adult life that is key.

改變單詞形式

一個單詞有多種不同的形式， 譬如，名詞，動詞，形容詞和副詞，通過改變詞性也可以重新paraphrase。 同樣， 改變單詞形式要確認句子語法正確，沒有語病。

比如：Longer life spans and improvements in the health of older people suggest that people over the age of sixty-five can continue to live full and active lives.

Longer life spans and improvements in the health of older people are suggesting that people over the age of sixty-five can continue living full and active lives.

被動語態

如果句子含有帶賓語的動詞，那麼嘗試改為被動語態。

The property developers invested $20 million in the development of the shopping centre.

改為被動語態： $20 million was invested in the development of shopping centers.

如上所示，四種改變句子的方法，可以單獨或同時使用，但是一定要避免語義和語法錯誤。

學會paraphrase，不但可以提高英語寫作的辭彙搭配能力還可以間接地增加辭彙量。
