介詞for有講究

search的賓語是資料庫，search for（retrieve）的賓語才是文獻，如：We searched databases for relevant articles. 或者We searched for relevant articles.

同理，screen的賓語是篩選的對象，而screen for的賓語是篩選的目標，如：We screened the subjects for mutation in this gene. 或者 We screened for the presence of this mutation.

組內的差異和組間的差異

對於「差異具有統計學意義」相關的句型我們該怎麼用英文來表達呢？

如果是組間比較，那之前說過，可以考慮如下表達方式：

1) Serum xxx level was significantly higher in group A than in group B.

2) The serum xxx level in group A was significantly higher than that in group B.

3) The serum xxx level in group A increased significantly compared with that in group B.

4) Group A had a significantly higher serum xxx level than group B.

5) Compared with group B, group A had a significantly higher serum xxx level.

6) Group A had a significantly higher/increased serum xxx level compared with group B.

7) Serum xxx level differed/varied significantly across groups.

8) The 2-year relapse-free survival rate, distant metastasis-free survival rate, progression-free survival rate, and disease-specific death rate for (of也可以) group A were 95%, 82%, 81%, and 13%, respectively, versus 97%, 83%, 79%, and 12% for (of也可以) group B.

9) There was a significant difference in xxx between groups A and B.

10) The liver V30Gy and V20Gy were 30% and 40%, respectively, for 3DCRT, versus 20% and 30% for IMRT.

11) Clinical outcome is better with drug A than with drug B during the first year of liver transplantation.

那麼重點來了，如果是同一組內不同時間點的比較該怎麼表達比較好呢？如果還套用上述這些句型，使用higher/lower/difference之類的詞，就會比較彆扭，因為同組不同時間點的比較體現的是一個動態的變化，所以用increase/reduction/change/improvement這類詞比較好。比如：

1) Serum xxx level was significantly increased after treatment in group A.

2) Group A had a significantly increased/reduced serum xxx level after treatment.

3) Group A showed a significant increase/reduction/change in serum xxx level after treatment.

4) Group A showed an improvement in clinical outcome after treatment.
