注意保持主語一致

分詞所指的主語與主句的主語要一致，且看以下例句：

1.

Walking slowly down the road, he saw a woman accompanied by two children.

walking的主語是he，與主句的主語he一致。

如果walking所指的主語是women，則該句就要變成以下形式：

He saw a woman, accompanied by two children, walking slowly down the road.

2.

On arriving in Chicago, he was met at the station by his friends.

arriving的主語是he，與主句的主語he一致。如果這個句子寫成以下形式則指代不明：

On arriving in Chicago, his friends met him at the station.

3.

• 正確：A soldier of proved valor, he was entrusted with the defense of the city.
• 錯誤：A soldier of proved valor, they entrusted him with the defense of the city.

4.

• 正確：Young and inexperienced, I thought the task easy.
• 錯誤：Young and inexperienced, the task seemed easy to me.

5.

• 正確：Without a friend to counsel him, he found the temptation irresistible.
• 錯誤：Without a friend to counsel him, the temptation proved irresistible.

醫學論文里的比較句式就要注意這個問題，簡單地說就是：組（group）跟組（group）比較，參數（serum xxx level）跟參數（serum xxx level）比較。(發送 tip4 查看相關文章)

• 妥當：Compared with group B, group A had a significantly increased serum xxx level.
• 不妥：Compared with group B, the serum xxx level of group A was significantly increased.
• 妥當：Compared with that of group B, the serum xxx level of group A was significantly increased.
