In this past century, the most important parts of education are reading, writing, and maths. Given the importance of the computer, some suggest children can benefit if educators add a fourth skill to the list: computer skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

1. Daily Use: The majority of people now use computers every single day. Many use computers more than they write or do math problems. It is senseless not to teach computer skills.

日常使用。如今，大部分的人每一天都會使用電腦。很多人用電腦不只是為了寫東西或者算術。這樣，不教電腦技能就是愚蠢的。

2. Improves Creativity: Learning coding can enhance creativity in students. When students know coding, they create many applications and websites by themselves.

增加創造力。學習編碼可以提升學生的創造力。當學生知道如何編碼以後，他們會自己開發出很多應用程序和製作網站。

3. Aids the Impoverished: Even in great and wealthy countries, some students will not have access to a computer at home. For them to improve their futures, they must learn how to use a computer.

幫助窮人。即使在發達、富有的國家，有些學生在家也沒有電腦。為了讓他們有更好的未來，他們必須學會如何使用電腦。（家裡沒有，學校有也好）

1. Rapid Transformation: Unlike math, reading, and writing, computer technology changes incredibly fast. By the time students finish school, the computer skills they learned may be obsolete.

更新快。電腦技術不像數學、閱讀和寫作，它更新得非常快。等學生從學校畢業的時候，他們在學校學到的電腦技能已經過時了。

2. Simple Task: For todays youth, using the computer is easier than washing dishes or taking out the trash. Toddlers can learn how to operate computers before they can read, write, or do math. Using class time for teaching computer skills is futile.

3. Expensive: Textbooks have far less cost than computers. If schools wanted to teach students computer skills correctly, they would need to buy computers. Since not every school can afford computers, it is impractical.

昂貴。教科書遠比電腦便宜。如果學校想要正確地教授電腦技能，它們就需要購買電腦。不是每個學校都買得起電腦，所以教授電腦技能不現實。

最後，談談我為什麼要做這個專欄

2017年初，我決定了開通自己的微信公眾號。過年放假的那一周，每天都在整理資料，填充公眾號需要的信息。我一邊做，一邊就意識到：這其實就像開了個網店，只是沒有開在某寶。

我的興趣喪失，但是偶爾突發奇想地會在公眾號更新一些自己教學的感受，引來了很多同學私底下的詢問。於是，之前一段時間，我更新了幾篇關於備考的文章。

慢慢地，我發現很難短時間內解決的學生「意識」上的問題，學生通過看相關的推文，能夠潛移默化地改變。

這些意識上的問題，其中之一是沒有批判性思維，所以我寫下了《批判性思維提升》專題；

本專題解決另一類問題，即學生常常說的「為什麼要出這樣的題」和「我就是想不到好的點」。

背景知識的積累，不是三天兩頭可以實現的。我們日常看新聞，看訪談節目，和知識面廣的朋友聊天，都在不斷補充背景知識。
