An increasing number of people change their careers and places of residence several times in their lives. Is it a positive or negative development?

英國人的解析

Positive 積極

1. Learn Adaptability: If people only stay in one place in their entire life or only have one job, they never learn to handle changing environments. By switching locations and occupations, people learn to adapt quickly.

學習適應能力。如果人們一生僅僅待在一個地方，或者只干一個工作，那麼他們就學不會應對改變的環境。通過更換住址和職業，人們很快就學會適應。

2. Broadens Horizons: Changing professions and moving to new places can also widen the range of experiences. They discover how to do new things and interact with various types of people and different ways of living.

拓寬視野。改變職業或者搬去新的地方可以豐富人們的經歷。他們會發現如何做新的事情，如何跟各種各樣類型的人互動，還會發現新的生活方式。

3. Many feel they do not fit in the places (where) they are born or the first place they decide to work. To find something that suits them, they must try different things.

很多人覺得他們無法融入他們出生的地方，或者無法融入他們選擇工作的第一個地方。為了找到適合他們的，他們必須嘗試不同的東西。

Negative 消極

1. Stressful: Moving from one place to the next and switching from one job to another will cause incredible pressure. This fact is particularly the case for people with children. Stress is fine in small amounts, but too much is hazardous to physical and mental health.

壓力。從一個地方搬去下一個地方，或者換工作，會引起相當大的壓力。這對於有孩子的人尤其明顯。少量的壓力是件好事，但是過多壓力對身體和精神健康都有害。

2. Unstable: Humans do need some form of routine and stability. If someone continuously changes jobs and residences, they wont be able to develop habits and will be unstable.

不穩定。人類確實在形式上需要一些行為慣例和穩定性。如果某人持續地換工作和居住地，那麼他就無法建立習慣，感到不穩定（這和他們的需求相矛盾）。

3. Loosens Social Ties: People build relationships, with family or with friends, through time. When people move or change careers, it is easy to weaken these bonds. Losing social ties is not only undesirable.

友建立關係，需要時間。當人們搬家或者換工作的時候，很容易削弱這些聯繫。失去社會關係不但是個人不想要的，而且還對社會有破壞性。

最後，談談我為什麼要做這個專欄

2017年初，我決定了開通自己的微信公眾號。過年放假的那一周，每天都在整理資料，填充公眾號需要的信息。我一邊做，一邊就意識到：這其實就像開了個網店，只是沒有開在某寶。

我的興趣喪失，但是偶爾突發奇想地會在公眾號更新一些自己教學的感受，引來了很多同學私底下的詢問。於是，之前一段時間，我更新了幾篇關於備考的文章。

慢慢地，我發現很難短時間內解決的學生「意識」上的問題，學生通過看相關的推文，能夠潛移默化地改變。

這些意識上的問題，其中之一是沒有批判性思維，所以我寫下了《批判性思維提升》專題；

本專題解決另一類問題，即學生常常說的「為什麼要出這樣的題」和「我就是想不到好的點」。

背景知識的積累，不是三天兩頭可以實現的。我們日常看新聞，看訪談節目，和知識面廣的朋友聊天，都在不斷補充背景知識。
