Some people think money spent by the government in supporting artists (such as painters, musicians, and writers) is better than other endeavors.

一、辭彙補充

1. patron

1) One that supports, protects, or champions someone or something, such as an institution, event, or cause; a sponsor or benefactor 支持者

a patron of the arts

2) A customer, especially a regular customer. 常客

2. dilute

1) to reduce the strength, force, or efficiency of by admixture. （通過混雜其他東西來）削弱

It was a clear attempt to dilute black voting power.

3. defile

1) To make filthy or dirty; pollute 污染

Cook in a manner that preserves and respects nature rather than defile nature.

2) To debase the pureness or excellence of; corrupt 玷污；使……腐敗

二、英國人的解析

1. Too Expensive: Governments already have too many expenses such as education, the economy, and the safety and security of their citizens. They should focus on the essentials first.

太貴。政府已經有很多方面的開支了，比如教育，經濟，市民的安全。政府應該優先將力量集中在（這些）根本的事務上。

2. Patrons: Renowned artists have wealthy patrons and buyers; they dont need help from anyone to make money and fund their craft.

支持者。知名藝術家有富裕的支持者和購買者，他們不需要任何人的幫助來賺錢或者為他們的藝術品提供經濟支持。

3. The best art requires freedom, and a government cannot endorse all ideas, so they will pay artists they agree with while neglecting great art that they dislike. Their involvement dilutes and defiles artistic expression; they have no place in the arts.

最好的藝術必須有自由，但是政府無法批准所有的想法。所以，政府只會把錢花在他們允許的藝術家身上，同時忽視掉他們不喜歡的偉大的藝術。

1. Maintains Culture: One of the essential factors for culture is art. A country without the arts is a country without color, without humanity. The government should maintain that color and the human experience for their citizens.

維持文化。文化的一個基本因素就是藝術。沒有藝術的國家，就沒有色彩和人文。政府應該為了市民持續支持這些色彩，記錄人們經歷過的事情。

2. Aids Tourism: Countries that are famous for their art draw in tourists, which is essential to an economy.

幫助旅遊業。以藝術聞名的國家吸引了大量遊客，這在經濟方面有很大意義。

3. In poverty-ridden and urban neighborhoods, many cannot afford to pursue creativity, although they have the talent for it. Enhancing creativity and innovation is good for all.

在都市的貧窮區域，很多人沒有經濟能力去提升創造力，雖然他們有著這樣的天賦。加強創造力和創新，對所有人都有好處。

三、邵教授的說明

同意-不好寫

題目問的不是「政府是否應該支持藝術」，而是政府資金支持藝術是否比支持其他事業更重要。

那麼，如果同意，就要去論證為什麼「政府資金支持藝術比支持其他任何事業都更重要」。其他事業包括上文中提到的「education, the economy, and the safety and security of their citizens」. 這種論證的難度是非常高的。

英國人的解析中仍然給出了支持「同意」的分論點，它們都是可以使用的，但是需要結合「不同意」立場的分論點來使用。

事實上，適合用來寫這篇作文的全套思路，需要使用這部分內容，見後文。

反對-沒那麼不好寫

反對的2和3兩個點，對大部分學生來說，是比較難想到的。（當然，現在看到了，記下來就行。以後藝術類話題可以套用！）但是，一旦想到了，合理性會非常高。

常見坑

僅僅因為政府要支持教育、經濟、安全等方面，所以政府沒有錢搞藝術。

這就是沒有批判性思維的答案。

這個月你要多花錢買護膚品，你就不花錢買衣服了？

這個月你要抽好煙，你就不花錢沖遊戲典卡了？

搞笑吧！！！

結合以上，邵教授建議思路

總觀點：反對

分論點1：政府有很多基本開銷，沒有閑暇支持藝術

分論點2：知名藝術家有人支持

讓步：藝術和文化有關，文化很重要；藝術和旅遊有關，經濟很重要。

結論：雖然藝術很重要，但是政府支持藝術這件事，沒有支持其他根本的方面重要。

最後，談談我為什麼要做這個專欄

2017年初，我決定了開通自己的微信公眾號。過年放假的那一周，每天都在整理資料，填充公眾號需要的信息。我一邊做，一邊就意識到：這其實就像開了個網店，只是沒有開在某寶。

我的興趣喪失，但是偶爾突發奇想地會在公眾號更新一些自己教學的感受，引來了很多同學私底下的詢問。於是，之前一段時間，我更新了幾篇關於備考的文章。

慢慢地，我發現很難短時間內解決的學生「意識」上的問題，學生通過看相關的推文，能夠潛移默化地改變。

這些意識上的問題，其中之一是沒有批判性思維，所以我寫下了《批判性思維提升》專題；

本專題解決另一類問題，即學生常常說的「為什麼要出這樣的題」和「我就是想不到好的點」。

背景知識的積累，不是三天兩頭可以實現的。我們日常看新聞，看訪談節目，和知識面廣的朋友聊天，都在不斷補充背景知識。
