法學院申請：LLM轉JD需要LSAT嗎？

鑒於越來越多同學在報讀LLM的時候考慮到轉JD的可能性包括是否需要LSAT，我們詳細整理了一些美國主要法學院對於LLM轉JD的政策，供參考。

Columbia

哥大視LLM轉JD與JD正常轉學一樣。最低要求是：需要在法學院獲得28學分（被ABA或AAS認可）。可申請轉入CLS JD二年級：

「Applicants are eligible to apply for transfer admission into the second-year class

after having accrued a minimum of 28 credits from law schools that are

either members of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) or

approved by the American Bar Associations section on Legal Education.

Please note that after you have transferred, a review with the Director

of Academic Counseling will determine how many of the credits that you

earned at your prior school will be eligible toward your Columbia Law

School J.D. and whether you have completed Columbia Law School』s core

first-year curriculum. Work completed at another law school is generally

accepted at the credit value assigned by the original institution, up

to a maximum of 32 law credits. Generally, no credit toward the Columbia

J.D. is granted for summer school courses or for non-law courses. No

credit will be accepted in transfer for courses in which the student has

received a grade lower than a C, or, generally, for courses graded on a

Pass/Fail system.

申請要求：

Chicago

「I am a non-U.S. citizen that has received an LL.M. degree at a U.S.

institution and/or a law degree from a common law foreign university.
May I apply as a transfer student?

Yes, you may apply as a student with advanced standing and transfer to complete your second and third year in the J.D. program.

即，芝大對於LLM轉JD的態度是，如果你是他校LLM，需要Advanced Standing + LSAT。而本校的話，則無需LSAT：

「If I apply as an advanced standing transfer student, do I have to take the LSAT?

Unless you completed your LL.M. degree at the University of Chicago Law

School, you must take and report at least one (1) LSAT score.

申請截止日期：

RD：June 15, 2018

申請要求：

Yale

YLS每年收到的轉學申請大概是200份，然而每年的錄取人數在10-15左右。轉學申請的時間是每年的：June 1 - July 3。

需要 Advanced Standing

注意，YLS的轉學不是Rolling Admission。

Upenn

Upenn對LLM轉JD的政策非常友好：本校LLM無需LSAT，並且畢業後獲JD和LLM雙學位。

「Will I be able to transfer into the JD program from the LLM program?

Penn Law LLMs have two advantages in the admission process in comparison with other transfer students; they are not required to submit an LSAT score, and they are able to submit letters of recommendation from Penn Law professors.

Penn Law LLMs who successfully transfer to the JD program generally receive

advanced standing for legal academic work completed in their home

countries. Thus, they generally start their JD studies as part of the 2L

class, and after spending a total of three years at Penn Law hold an

LLM as well as a JD.

Please note, only current Penn Law LLMs may apply to transfer into our JD

Program. We do not accept LLM alumni or LLM students from other law

schools as transfer students into our JD program.

Please also note that only LLM students who have obtained a law degree prior

to enrolling in the LLM Program will be eligible to apply to transfer to

Penn Law』s JD Program.

Duke

Duke Law要求Advanced Standing，具體的申請要求見下：

每年的申請開放是4月1號，截止日期是7月1號。

Northwestern

西北不接受LLM轉入JD。但提供一個2年的JD項目可供轉：

「Are credits from the LLM Program transferrable to Northwestern』s JD Program?

No. Northwestern Law does not accept any LLM credits, whether from

Northwestern or another law school, for the JD Program. However,

Northwestern does offer the Two-Year Program for International Lawyers.

Students who are admitted to the program receive one year of credit for

their foreign law degree. Two-Year JD students must complete the

required coursework for JD students during their first year. The second

year is spent taking elective courses. Two-Year JD students are

completely integrated with students in our regular JD program. Graduates

of the Two-Year JD program receive a juris doctor degree from

Northwestern Law. Please note that the LSAT is required for the Two-Year

JD Program.

Cornell

對康奈爾來說，只接受本校LLM申請：

「Only current Cornell Law School LL.M. students may apply to transfer to the J.D. program at Cornell Law.

Your transfer application must be received by J.D. Admissions office by

April 1st. The transfer procedures and requirements are similar to

those applied to J.D. students at other law schools who seek to transfer

into the Cornell Law J.D. program.

若你是別家的LLM，那是不允許申請的：

「If you hold an LLM degree, you are not eligible to apply as a transfer

applicant, but you may apply for our regular decision JD program. If

you are admitted, you may petition for advanced standing.

另外，對本校的LLM學生來說，轉入了JD就意味著放棄LLM學位：

「If you are accepted into the J.D. program as a transfer student, you will

be eligible to apply up to 24 credits obtained in pursuit of your LL.M.

degree toward your J.D. degree requirements. However, you will lose your

eligibility to receive your pending LL.M. degree. You must complete at

least four semesters at Cornell while enrolled as a J.D. student.

UVA

UVA對於轉JD的政策可以說是相當友好。但是它只接受本校LLM在校學生以及畢業五年內的校友，成績的最低要求是B+。其中，2010-14年間畢業的LLM學生無需提交LSAT，15畢業後的需要LSAT成績。

「The University of Virginia School of Law accepts applications to transfer

to the J.D. program only from current University of Virginia LL.M.

students or University of Virginia LL.M. graduates who have graduated

within the last 5 years. Students who received their LL.M. degree from

2010-2014 are not required to take the LSAT. Students who will graduate

in or after 2015 are required to submit an LSAT score with their

application.

然後成功轉入JD的學生將獲得LLM和JD雙學位。

「Applicants who apply to transfer to the J.D. program will receive the LL.M.

degree. If they are accepted, they retain the LL.M. degree, and all

the coursework they completed as an LL.M. will also be applied to the

J.D. degree.

Boston U

BU的轉JD需要LSAT成績。

USC

本校LLM轉JD無需LSAT。

此外，如果想LLM轉SJD，則需要在LLM期間找導師定好研究方向。一年內找好導師，確定研究方向之後，可以在本校直接轉SJD，或者申到更好的學校。SJD畢業主要在法學院做教職。
