Welcome to the worlds oldest oyster festival, the most famous Irish festival since st. Patricks day. One of the biggest food events in Europe, Galway international oyster and seafood festival was launched in September 1954 by Brian Collins, the manager of the Great Southern Hotel, now known as the Meyrick Hotel.

That year, only 34 guests took part in the first oyster festival, with dozens of oysters each time. These days, this activity is one of the biggest events in Ireland social calendar, attracted more than 22000 people in 2012, they pleased to shoot down the famous local Galway oysters.
