The Fox and the Mask

A fox once found his way into an actors house. He looked into everything. He sniffed at the costumes hanging in rows in the cupboards. He dipped his nose in the jars of cream and paint on the dressing table and he turned out the trunks full o f pointed shoes and hats with plumes and feathers. Lying at the bottom of one of the trunks he found a perfectly made actors mask. It had a nose, a mouth, eyebows and even eyelashes. The skin was carefully coloured to look like real face.

For a moment the fox thought it was a real face. Then chunckling at his mistake he said:" What a fine looking head you are. Its a pity you have no brains behind you."

Beauty is no use without brains.

狐狸和面具

有一次，狐狸闖進演員的家，看了所有的東西。他聞聞衣櫃里掛著的一排排服裝，把鼻子伸進梳妝台上的裝雪花膏的瓶瓶罐罐里，打開裝滿尖頭鞋和各種插著羽毛和帶皮毛的帽子的箱子。他在一個箱子的底下，發現一個製作精美的、演員用的面具。它有鼻子，有嘴，有眉毛，甚至還有眼睫毛。皮膚的顏色塗得十分細緻，跟真人的皮膚一樣。

狐狸一時以為這是真人的臉。後來，他發覺自己弄錯了，暗笑道「你是個多麼好看的腦袋呀。可惜，後面沒有腦子。」

如果沒有頭腦，美貌是沒用的。
