[Scene: Central Perk, everyone is there except Joey.]
Monica:nAlright. Phoebe?

omnipotentnadj.
Ross: Yeah,nsee.. you took mine. Chandler, nwhat about you?
Chandler:nUh, if I were omnipotent for a day, Id.. make myself omnipotent forever.
Rachel:nSee, theres always one guy. (Mocking) "If I had a wish, Id wish fornthree more wishes." (Joey enters.)
All: HeynJoey. Hi. Hey, buddy.
Monica:nHey, Joey, what would you do if you were omnipotent?
Joey: Probablynkill myself!
impotentnadj.a.
Monica:n..Excuse me?
Joey: Hey,nif Little Joeys dead, then I got no reason to live!
Ross: Joey,nuh- OMnipotent.
Joey: You are?nRoss, Im sorry..
Opening Credits

Phoebe: Myngrandmother has this new boyfriend, and theyre both kind of insecure in bed.nOh, and deaf. So theyre constantly, like, having to reassure each other thatntheyre having a good time. You have no idea how loud they are!
insecure adj.不可靠的, 不安全的/be insecure in bed在床上翻來覆去/reassure vt. n
Monica:nWell, if you want, you can stay with Rachel and me tonight.
Phoebe:nThanks.

Joey: So?
Ross: So,nIm guessing you had an extra ticket and couldnt decide which one of you got tonbring a date?
Chandler:nWell, arent we Mr. "The glass is halfnempty."
"The glass is half empty."」

Rachel:nOkay. (Grabs the blender and starts to drink.)

Well, lets see, the FICA guys took all my money, everyone I know isneither getting married, or getting pregnant, or getting promoted, and Imngetting coffee! And its not even for me! [Scene: Madisonn SquareGarden, nthe guys are trying to find their seats.]

Monica: Younshould feel great about yourself! Youre doing this amazing independence thing!n
Rachel:nMonica, what is so amazing? I gave up, like, everything. And for what?
Phoebe: Younare just like Jack.
Rachel:n...Jack from downstairs?
Phoebe: No,nJack and the Beanstalk
Jack and the Beanstalk:瑞秋後悔自己離家出走,菲比則用《傑克和魔豆(Jack and the Beanstalk)》的故事勸慰她。
Monica: Ah,nthe other Jack.
Phoebe:nYeah, right! See, he gave up something, but then he got those magic beans. Andnthen he woke up, and there was this, this big plant outside his window, full ofnpossibilities and stuff.. And he lived in a village, and you live in thenVillage..
Rachel:nOkay, but Pheebs, Pheebs, Jack gave up a cow, I gave up an orthodontist. Okay,nI-I-I know, I know I didnt love him-
Phoebe: Oh,nsee, Jack did love the cow.
Rachel: Butnsee, it was a plan. Yknow, it was clear. It was figured out, and nowneverythings just kinda like...
Phoebe: Floopy
Floopy:It doesnt mean anything.nIts just a word *they* chose to describe that messed up feeling where nothingnis solid and nothing is sure (instead its changeable) floopy makes peoplenthink of rubber or a wet fish flopping around.
Rachel:nYeah.
Monica: Sonwhat, youre not the only one. I mean, half the time we dont know where werengoing. Youve just gotta figure at some point its all gonna come together, andnits just gonna be... un-floopy.
Phoebe: Oh,nlike thats a word
Rachel:nOkay, but Monica, what if- what if it doesnt comentogether(集合to走上正軌)?
Monica:n...Pheebs?
Phoebe: Oh,nwell... cause.... you just... I dont like this question.
Rachel:nOkay, see, see, you guys, what if we dont get magic beans? I mean, what if all weve gotnare.. beans?
what if如果……
[Scene: Madisonn SquareGarden, nthe guys are watching the game.]
Ross: Get him宰了他! GET HIM! Getnhim! Get- YESSS! Not laughing now, are ya pal!
Chandler: (to Ross) See buddy, nthats all you need, a bunch of toothless guys hitting each other with sticks.
Ross: Passnit! Pass it!

puck n.
Chandler:nHey, look, were on that TV thing!

[Scene: An Emergency Room, Chandler and Joey are leading Ross in.]
Chandler:n(to the receptionist)Scuse me.
receptionistnn.
Receptionist:n(holds up her hand—she is on the phone) It says to call this number if youre not completelynsatisfied with this candy bar(n. Well, Im not completely satisfied.
Chandler:nListen, its kind of an emergency. Well, I guess you know that, or wed be innthe predicament room. (The receptionist glares at him.)
predicament n.
Receptionist:n(on phone) Hold on. (To Chandler)nFill these out, sit over there. (Tosses him some forms.)
fill out v.

Receptionist:nWell, youll have to wait your turn.
Joey: Well, nhow long do you think itll be?
Receptionist:n(sarcastic) Any minute now快了.
Ross: Hey,nthis- (she gives him a look and the guys back off後退) Heyy...
[Scene: Monica and Rachels, the slumber party continues.]
Rachel: Imnso sorry, you guys. I didnt mean to bring you down.

Rachel:nThank God. Food. (She goes to answer the door
Monica:nPhoebe?
Phoebe:nWhat?
Monica: Donyou have a plan?
Phoebe: Indont even have a pl.
Pizza Guy:nHi, one, uh, mushroom蘑菇, green pepper青椒 and onion洋蔥?
Rachel:n(miserably) No, no, thats not what we ordered... We ordered a fat-free脫脂的 crust脆皮 with extrancheese.
Pizza Guy:nWait, youre not G.Stephanopoulos? Man, my dads gonna kill me!
Monica:n(leaping off of the couch and runs up) Wait! Did you say G.Stephanopoulos?
Pizza Guy:nYeah. This one goes across the street, I must have given him yours. Oh, bonehead笨蛋, bonehead!Monica:nWait, was this a-a small mediterranean guy with curiously intelligent goodnlooks?
Mediterraneannn.adj.地中海
Pizza Guy:nYeah, that sounds about right聽起來應該是他.
Monica: Wasnhe wearing a stunning blue suit?
stunning adj.
Phoebe:nAnd-and a power tie?
power adj.
Pizza Guy:nNo, pretty much just a towel.
pretty much 幾乎,非常接近/towel n.
Monica: (staggered搖搖擺擺的) Oh God.
Pizza Guy:nSo you guys want me to take this back?
Monica: Arenyou nuts?! Weve got George Stephanopoulos pizza! (Rachel pays him, Monicangrabs some binoculars, and runs to the window.)
nuts adj.
Rachel: Uh,nPheebs? Whos George Snuffalopagus?
Phoebe: BignBirds friend.
Monica: Insee pizza!
Phoebe: Oh,nI wanna see! Lemme see! Lemme see! (She runs up跑過去 and takes the binoculars.)
Rachel:nHello? Who are we spying on偵察,暗中監視?

Rachel: Oh,nhim, the little guy? Oh, I love him!
Phoebe:nOoh, wait.. wait, I see a woman.
Monica:nPlease tell me its his mother.
Phoebe:nDefinitely not his mother.
Monica: Oh,nno...
Phoebe: Oh,nwait, shes walking across the floor.. shes walking.. shes walking.. shesngoing for the pizza- (Yelling) Hey, thats not for you, bitch臭女人! (Phoebe coversnher mouth with her hand walks away from the window.)
[Scene: The Emergency Room, Joey is miming hockey pucks kitting foreheads. Chandlernrealises its getting tense緊張的 and goes to the receptionist again.]
Chandler:nExcuse me, look, weve been here for over an hour, and a lot of people less sick than my friend have gone in. I mean, that guy with the toe thing? Whosnhe sleeping with? (She slides the gladd panel over and Chandler talks through it in a loud voice.)nOh, cmon Dora, dont be mad... I know we both said some things we didnt mean, nbut that doesnt mean we still dont love each other. (To the waiting room.)nYknow, I feel like Ive lost her.. (She slides the panel back, he turns, andnit takes him by surprise.) Ba-!
gladd panel 擋板/slide the glad panel滑動擋板/mad adj.
[Scene: Monica and Rachels, the girls are all out on thenbalcony.]
Monica:nLight still out?
light is still out
Rachel:nYeah.
Monica: Oh.nMaybe theyre- napping.

Rachel: Ohnplease, theyre having sex.
Monica and Phoebe: Shut up!
Rachel: So,nwhaddya think George is like?
Monica: Inthink hes shy.
Phoebe:nYeah?
Monica:nYeah. I think you have to draw him out. And then- when you do- hes a preppynanimal.
draw out v. preppy animal。
[Scene: The Emergency Room, Ross is still going on aboutnhis first night with Carol.]
go on aboutnv.
Ross: Inremember the moonlight coming through the window- and her face had the mostnincredible glow(vi.

pate n.
