如何激勵他人
幾個月前,我看到一篇文章,寫的是一個8歲小男孩做起了餅乾生意。他想幫助重病住院的小朋友們,於是閑暇時間自己烤餅乾賣。他的事迹在網上火了之後,激勵了許多人主動給醫院捐錢。
去年,我碰到朋友Jordan Zhao,他創辦了致力於提高中國HR行業標準和能力的非營利組織meetHR。公司創辦僅僅兩年後,他就讓數千名HR專業人士參與到其中。這些人相信他的目標,希望能通過meetHR和別人分享自己的HR技能。實際上,那位8歲男孩和Jordan的初衷都不是激勵他人,但最後卻都做到了這一點。那麼他們是如何激勵他人的呢?
其實,人人都能鼓舞他人。最近我就和一個朋友談到這一點。他是國際HR服務公司Korn Ferry的前亞太地區總經理,如今運營著一家領導力諮詢和培訓公司,CapitaPartners。到底怎樣的人才能鼓舞他人呢?我們各自提到了幾個這些人擁有的,受別人仰慕和喜愛的特質。其一是魅力,其他還有熱情、洞察力、想像力。不過最終,我們得出了鼓舞他人之人擁有的兩個最基本特質。
真誠——做真正的自己,表達自己真正的想法,換言之,就是不虛偽。沒有人喜歡虛假,或願意追隨虛假之人。他們喜歡真實的東西。所以如果你做人不真誠,想法不真誠,就很難激勵到他人。
那些能激勵他人的人,比如馬雲、喬布斯、馬丁·路德·金,他們都有自己的核心價值觀,堅定不移的信仰。他們是自己信仰的化身,全身心致力於自己想做之事。
最近一個真誠能激勵他人的好例子就是川普。無論你喜不喜歡他,他之所以能當上美國總統,其中一個大原因就是因為許多人覺得他很真誠,做人、說話皆如此。這一特質激勵許多人站出來投他票。
相反,許多人覺得希拉里虛偽、城府深。大選時,她的支持者沒有像川普的支持者那樣挺身而出支持她,因為他們沒有受到她的激勵。
目的感——大多數人做事是為了名利或別人的仰慕,但許多激勵他人之人在做事時擁有更大的目的。他人當然也想出名、變有錢,但更願意做有意義的重要之事。其他人會注意到這一點。他們想做有價值的事情。
喬布斯想提高人們的生活質量。相比科技而言,他更多談論的是過上更好生活的機會。馬雲致力於打造能讓全世界一起做生意的平台,對阿里巴巴員工,尤其是一家剛成立20多年的公司來說,這就是很棒的目標。
再拿川普舉個例子。他有清晰的目的,把全美國人的心聯結在了一起。他宣揚的「Make America Great
Again」甚至讓之前沒拿他當總統候選人的人也心動了起來。他不斷強調控制移民,給美國人創作更多工作崗位,加強美國全球貿易協定,這些政策美國人都能輕鬆理解。雖然希拉里也想讓美國繼續偉大下去,但很多人認為她對此的措施並不明確。她說的都是老一套的東西,沒什麼新鮮感,也沒什麼創意,因此對許多人來說,她的話並沒川普那麼有吸引力,也沒那麼能激勵他人。
你要如何激勵他人?
在職場和事業中,你無需靠巧妙絕倫的想法或獨特的做法激勵他人,也不用激勵許多人,甚至不用當上領導人。只要能激勵到身邊人即可,無論人數多少都可以。
擁有幫助他人變得更為成功的熱情,在某領域做到佼佼者,追求有價值的目標,這樣你就能激勵他人變得更好,更大膽,或產生更大影響。自己做的事情能積極地影響到他人,這種感覺很不錯。要想成為這種人,就要真誠,要確定目標,把最佳的自己表現出來。

How to Inspire Others

few months ago, I read about an 8-year old boy who started a cookie business.He wanted to make money to help kids who were hospitalized with seriousillnesses. So he put his spare time into baking cookies to sell. When theinternet found out, he inspired many to contribute money to the hospital aswell.Last
year, I caught up with a friend, Jordan Zhao, who founded and heads meetHR, a non-profitorganization that』s dedicated to raising the standards and capabilities ofChina』s HR industry. After just two years, Jordan has the involvement of thousands
of HR professionals. They believe in his objective and want to share their HRexpertise with others through meetHR. Actually, for both the 8-year boy andJordan, inspiring others isn』t what they set out to do. But that』s whathappened. So how did they become so inspirational?Actually, anyone can be inspirational. A friend and I talked about this recently, He』s the former Asia Pacific President for global HR services company, Korn Ferry. Today, he runs a leadership consulting and training business, CapitaPartners. But what kind of person inspires others? We each mentioned several qualities that people who are able to do this possess that others admire and are attracted to. Charisma was one of them. Passion, vision, and imagination were others. Eventually, however, we identified two most basic qualities of those who inspire others.
Being genuine – This means being
someone who is true to who you are and what you stand for. Or put another way,it』s not being fake. People don』t like or want to follow fake. They』reattracted to things that are real. So if you』re not genuine in who you are andwhat you believe in, you』re not likely to inspire others.
Think
about people who are inspiring, like Ma Yun, Steve Jobs, and Martin LutherKing. They have core values and deep beliefs. They embody what they stand forand are totally committed to what they do.A
good, recent example of how being genuine inspires others is Donald Trump.Whether you like him or not, a big reason why he became president of the UnitedStates is because many people feel he』s very genuine about who he is and whathe says. This quality inspired many to come out and vote for him.In
contrast, many people feel that Hillary Clinton is often fake and calculating.When the election came, her supporters didn』t come out and support her in thesame way Trump』s supporters did. They weren』t inspired.Sense of Purpose – Most people do things
for fame, money, or admiration of others. But many who inspire others have ahigher sense of purpose for what they do. While I』m sure they want to bewell-recognized and rich too, they mainly want to do something meaningful andsignificant. This is what others notice. They want to be part of somethingworthwhile.Steve
Jobs wanted to raise people』s quality of life. He didn』t talk about technologyso much as about possibilities for a better life. Ma Yun is dedicated to buildinga platform that will allow the whole world to do business together. For Alibabaemployees, this is an incredible vision and purpose to pursue, especially for aChinese company that』s only 20+ years old.Again,
to use Trump as an example, he has a clear sense of purpose that connects withmany Americans. His Make America GreatAgain (MAGA) message even appeals to many who never considered him seriouslybefore as a presidential candidate. And his repeated emphasis on tighter
controls on immigration, creating more jobs for Americans, and improvingAmerica』s global trade agreements are things many Americans easily understand.While
Hillary Clinton』s also wanted to make America great, many didn』t felt she had aclear approach to doing this. She just repeated things that many others were alwayssaying. So her words were nothing new or different. Ultimately, they weren』tthat attractive or inspirational to many.What about you inspires others?
For
your work situation and career, you don』t need to have brilliant ideas or unique
approach to things to inspire others. And you don』t have to inspire the masses.You don』t even have to be a leader. You can just inspire those around you,whether that』s just one person or many.Through
your desire and dedication to help others be more successful, become the bestat something, or pursue worthy objectives, you can inspire others to be better,bolder, or make a bigger impact. Influencing others in positive ways throughwhat you do is a great feeling. To become such a person, be genuine andidentify a purpose that brings out the best in who you are.------------------------------------------------------------------------------
