this way看上去是個名詞，為什麼在句子中變成了副詞呢？這是人們的第一個疑惑。看句子，

I have to do itthis way.

很顯然，this way 解釋為「以這種方式」，在句中為副詞。那麼this way明明是一個名詞，為什麼變成了副詞呢？這和我們通常的認知不符，於是很多人用得小心翼翼，覺得可能有什麼問題。實際上在英語中，名詞作狀語的情況非常多見，試著舉幾個例子：

See you next week. next week是名詞，做時間狀語
They walked a long way. a long way是名詞，作狀語
You need to check the site end to end. end to end是名詞，作狀語

可見，在英語中，名詞作狀語是很普通的。

其次，this way 和 in this way都是正確的用法。但對於外國人而言，this way的使用頻率要高的多，不負責任地粗略估計一下，大約90%的情景都會用到this way而不是in this way。這兩者的區別，除了上面栗子老師的答案，我來補充一點：

in this way 在文中常常起到一個邏輯連接詞（linking words）的作用，即從上文的一個事實引出下文的某個結果，意思是「照這個方法」。

Keep the soil moist. In this way（按照這個方法）, the seeding will flourish.
You should run more often. In this way (照這樣), you would improve your health.

你可以看到，在這兩個句子中，in this way實際上連接了兩個句子，其中的way指的是上一句話的事實。在實際中，其實將這兩個句子中的in去掉也同樣是可以的，這又說明了this way的使用頻率要高的多。
