備註：真正正確的單詞是burgle。摩登家庭里Alex問家人，破壞公物叫vandalize，那破壞公物的人呢？大家都以為是vandalizer，其實只要vandal就夠了。喬布斯告訴你：Less is more。

Fortnight是「正統」的英文，表示兩周，fortnightly就是兩周一次。這個詞其實就是fourteen nights。

我討厭不用「alternative」而用「alternate」。我不喜歡這麼用，因為這是兩個不同的詞，意思不同，兩個詞各自有各自的用途。用一個替換另一個，我們就少了一個可用的單詞。

備註：這兩個詞比較複雜，據網上的資料：

兩個詞都可以用作名詞。這時alternative是「另一個選擇」的意思，alternate是「替補」的意思，可以表示替別人的崗位，或是候補演員。

兩個詞都可以作形容詞。這時alternative還是「另一種（選擇）」的意思，alternate是交替的、相互的，同時還有「另一種」的意思。

Alternate可以用作動詞，alternative不可以。這時alternate是交替的意思。

備註：Price hike這個說法實在太生動了，感覺價格在奮力地向上爬(?n??_??)?

「Going forward(向前走)」，我要是走了就撞到鍵盤了。

備註：無論是向前走還是繼續走，都要用go on/onward。

「Deliverable」。管理顧問什麼的經常用這個詞，表示他們可以「實現」的東西，其實就是份報告。

備註：這是管理學的專業名詞，雖然多數時候就是份報告，但也可以是「工作包」，或是項目中的某些里程碑。

最煩人的美式用法就是「一百萬加一半」，應該是「一個半一百萬」。一個是1000000.5一個是1500000。

備註：如果把一百萬想像成一張紙其實這麼說也沒什麼大問題。

用「ask」就好非要用「reach out to」。比如說「我reach out to Kevin，然後告訴你什麼時間合適。」「Reach out」幹什麼？Kevin陷在流沙里了？在懸崖邊上要掉下去了？用ask不好嗎？

備註：Reach out to是「伸出手」的意思。向你問問題是伸出友誼之手。

36. Surely the most irritating is: "You do the Math." Math? Its MATHS. MichaelnZealey, London

最煩人的當屬「You do the Math」。Math？是MATHS好不好。

備註：據說把Maths寫成Math的數學都不好[微笑]。

備註：沒喝過蘇格蘭單一麥芽的人，真可怕。

最近「that』ll learn you」這個說法越來越頻繁。英式(正確的)說法是「that』ll teach you」。Learn you這個用法簡直是胡扯！

備註：明明是「給你個教訓/上一課」，結果把你變成教訓了。

我真討厭這個「Where』s it at?」這說法跟「where is it?」比即不高效也不明確，聽著很奇怪，也特別煩人。

句號用period而不是full stop。

備註：好多美劇里都有某個角色跟人爭論的場景，經常有角色說一句比較狠的話，然後加一個「period」，表示就說這麼多，不跟你說了。

但是full stop才是真正的句號，Period有時候還有別的意思可能讓人誤會。。

我最討厭的是「winningest」，「邁克爾·舒馬赫是歷史上『winningest』的車手」。哪怕放在這句話里我都很憤怒。

備註：「冠軍最多」變成了「最能贏」。

我弟弟說電視劇都說「season」。真可怕。

備註：美國的電視劇是「季」，season。英國的電視劇都是「系列」，series。很多片源組、字幕組命名的時候都用S1E1這種縮寫表示第一季第一集，這樣英美劇都能照顧到，S既可以表示season也可以表示series。

說有「issue」而不是有問題。

備註：Issue有許多個意思，其實很多都跟problem不沾邊。Issue通常跟紙質文件有關，有選集、發布等的意思。

越來越多的人把字母Z發成zee。不開心！

備註：英式的讀法是zed，美式讀法是zee，東北讀法是zei。

把medal當動詞而不是說「贏得」medal。一聽就恨的牙痒痒。

備註：這叫使動/意動。

最討厭「I got it for free」。免費用「free」而不是「for free」。便宜的東西是「cheap」，從不能說「for cheap」吧？

備註：這裡的free和cheap都是做賓語補足語，一個形容詞足夠，不用再加一個畫蛇添足的for。

49. "Turn that off already". Oh dear.Darren, Munich

「快(already)把那玩意關掉」。親娘咧。

備註：美國人說「xxx already」的意思是催你快去做xxx。表示並不能理解他們的腦迴路，already不是已經做完了嗎，還要催什麼？

50. "I could care less"ninstead of "I couldnt care less" has to be the worst. Oppositenmeaning of what theyre trying to say. Jonathan, Birmingham

「I could care less」而不是「I couldn』t care less」最糟糕。意思正好說反了。

備註：這種說法已經入侵中文了：「不能同意更多」。Couldn』t care less是不能關心得更少，表示一點也不關心。如果用could care less就是虛擬語氣，表示你可以「更不關心」卻沒有，倒成了很關心的意思。
