首先注意他說的時候是這樣說的: when I was young and Id..., 是在Id停頓, 而不是在young後邊停頓. 經常會有這種情況, 要多加小心.

有童鞋會問為什麼用would, 這不是過去將來時. 過去將來時是站在過去的時間點上說將來會做某事, 不符合. 也不是虛擬語氣, 大家不見到would就以為是虛擬語氣.

另外注意末尾的or whatever, 一般是連續列舉多個項目之後可以用它在末尾表示類似and so on的意思, 而這裡只列舉了一個也用了它, 所以又學到了一個細節.
