那些翻譯起來分分鐘讓人藍瘦香菇的英語單詞！

不論你辭彙量多麼龐大，總有這麼一些英文單詞，當它們要被翻譯成漢語時，分分鐘能讓人精分！也許是你自己不知道有對應的一個中文詞或短語可以簡潔表達；或者，我大中華里壓根就沒有表達這單詞意思的詞或短語；又或者，是一詞多義的辨別讓我們藍瘦香菇。。。我為什麼要說這種話？在這裡，舉我愛的栗子講給你們聽。（來啊，互相傷害啊！）

第一種情況，殊不知，更多時候是因為我們腦袋裡的中文辭彙量不夠海量，而不是說translation gap 太多，其實是可以用中文簡潔又準確來表達的，只是我們不知道這個詞或短語，畢竟我大中華漢字博大精深呀（敲黑板！）。

舉些栗子，Purlicue 大拇指和食指間的空隙，不就是虎口么？Lunule 指甲上白色的小太陽，不就是半月痕么？halfpace 指樓梯每層之間的平台，樓梯在這個平台翻轉方向，不就是叫緩步台么？Colunmella nasi，兩個鼻孔之間的空間，不就是鼻小柱么？Phloembundles 拔香蕉皮的時候拉出來的絲兒，不就是蕉絲么？Griffonage看不懂的潦草筆記，比如醫生開的處方，不就是鬼畫符么？（好氣哦！欺負我中文英文都不好嘛！）

但在遇到這些gap，不能用中文短語簡介準確表達的，也不適合簡單粗暴音譯的時候，就要視情況而定了。還是舉栗子吧！我是想到什麼就扯什麼，有錯誤，還請各位知友糾錯補充～

filibuster 政治術語：程序性阻撓議事，即用冗長的演講阻撓議會議案的通過。（詳細解釋請參見為什麼美國參議院會有 filibuster 這種奇怪的制度？ - 政治，天朝沒有這個詞合情合理）

petrichor，形容雨後泥土散發的氣息

ambidextrous 形容一個人左手右手都靈活熟練

vicarious，間接式體驗，代入式體驗？

topping 糕點上的裝飾配料，堅果啊糖霜啊，

presentation 展示？陳述？演講？

counterpart，競品？副本？配對物？相對物？這個相當依賴語境。

pitch，類似proposal？elevator pitch 電梯推銷？電梯安利？電梯里給人「種草」？

Eudemonia，因理性而積極生活所帶來的幸福，希臘借來詞

limbo：a speculative idea about the afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the Damned. 潛意識的邊緣？迷離之際？

Mamihlapinatapai，紀錄片《浮生一日》也解釋過，我又查了下定義：

1.a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other will offer something that they both desire but are unwilling to suggest or offer themselves.

2.It is that look across the table when two people are sharing an unspoken but private moment. When each knows the other understands and is in agreement with what is being expressed. An expressive and meaningful silence.

心有靈犀？心照不宣？默契？一種很微妙的狀態,或是一小段時間, 當事的雙方有了共同的願望,但是誰都沒開口把窗戶紙捅破的那個時間段。

sapiosexuality 因為智商高而產生的對異性的吸引力，smart is the new sexy？科科～

judge，評頭論足？指手畫腳？批判？審視？《論語》中倒有說到：子貢方人，子曰：賜也賢乎哉？夫我則不睱。這個「方」正好契合的樣子，不是現在我們說的「我好方」噢。

articulate 清楚地表達？有力地闡述？

alternative 備選的？兩者擇一的？

patronize，說爛的一句dont patronize me！別做出一副屈尊俯就的樣子？把我當hello kitty保護我？艾薇兒有首同名歌。

serendipity，意外發現珍奇事物的才能; 意外新發現

niche,最合適的位置？天下之大，自有留爺處。。。

ethereal：extremly delicate and light，seeming to belong to another more spiritual word.太空般輕縹的？

steatopygia：the state of having substantial levels of tissue on the buttocks and thighs. 臀部堆積了大塊肥肉的樣子，尤指婦女。

package 一攬子項目or計劃？

Limerence：The state of being infatuated or obsessed with another person, typically experienced involuntarily and characterized by a strong desire for reciprocation of ones feelings but not primarily for a sexual relationship. 指「已經交往一段時間卻已失去相互情緒上的牽掛和肉體上的吸引」，純愛？柏拉圖精神戀愛？

列舉幾隻喪心病狂的拼接詞 ( _ ) 。。。

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

super- "above", cali- "beauty", fragilistic- "delicate", expiali- "to atone", and -docious "educable", with the sum of these parts signifying roughly "Atoning for educability through delicate beauty."

「太牛x了我都不知道該說什麼了，但我為了讓你知道我已經了解了牛逼之處，我必須要說點什麼」簡言之，當你沒話說的時候說的話。

Floccinaucinihilipilification，action or habit of estimating as worthless, 1741, a combination of four Latin words (flocci, nauci, nihili, pilifi) all signifying at a small price or for nothing, flocci 對應 flock毛，絨毛；nauci 可以聯繫（聯想）nut, nucleus 胡桃殼，堅果; ni-=ne-不，hil=fil毛，對應file，pili毛，對應 pile, 大概就是對榮華富貴的輕蔑的意思，神馬都是浮雲～

Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism是個醫學詞，不懂，看wiki詞典解釋如下：

used to describe a condition where the individual has the phenotypic appearance of pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1a, but is biochemically normal.

第三種情況，一詞多義，這個就看語境以及搭配來翻譯了，有些自相矛盾的詞分分鐘想讓人狗帶（你若是老司機，就一笑而過吧）。繼續舉栗子呀！這一塊要細說的話，至少得嘮嗑上幾天幾夜。。。

sanction

制裁，處罰 vs 支持，批准

In 1935 the League of Nations imposed sanctions against Italy following its invasion of Ethiopia.

1935 年國際聯盟在義大利入侵衣索比亞之後對其實施了制裁。

The king could not enact laws without the sanction of Parliament.?未經議會批准，國王不能制定法律。?

compromise

妥協讓步 vs 使（自己）聲譽受損;違背(信念)

The government has compromised with its critics over monetary policies...?政府已經就貨幣政策向批評人士作出讓步

...members of the government who have compromised themselves by co-operating with the emergency committee...

因與緊急委員會合作而使自己名譽受損的政府成員

presently

現在 vs 不久之後

She is presently developing a number of projects...

她現在正著手開發多個項目。

-Who is Agnes？-Youll be meeting her presently.

「誰是阿格尼絲？」——「你很快就會見到她。」

shanghai

上海 vs 欺詐拐騙

They got shanghaied after being drugged in Shanghai.

充充電：shanghai一詞源於漢語地名「上海」，因為在十九世紀落後的中國有大量的華工被騙到國外從事繁重的體力勞動，並且不會受到良好的待遇。而他們出發的地方就是上海，因此，shanghai一詞在英語中也就有了「拐騙，欺詐」的意思。再來看看馬男里的栗子呀！厲害了我的哥！

劈開;砍開 vs 粘住，緊貼

?They just cleave the stone along the cracks.?他們就是順著裂縫把石頭劈開。

?The ancient ivy cleaved to the ruined castle walls.古老的常春藤緊緊攀附在破敗的城堡牆上。

humour

幽默 vs 遷就

His delightful sense of humour won him a legion of friends. ?他的幽默風趣為他贏得了眾多的朋友

She disliked Dido but was prepared to tolerate her for a weekend in order to humour her husband.她不喜歡迪多，但準備暫時忍受她一個周末。
