舌頭會打結：Five Sixths到底怎麼發音？

As a speech coach, I know that 「Sixths」 is a tough one. Often it is misprounounced as 「sisths」 or 「sixs.」

The trick is to make it through 「siks」 then stick your toungue through your teeth in the 「th」 position at the very last second, then draw the tongue tip back into the 「s」. Your tongue is just behind your teeth to make the first 「s」 in 「siks」 so slide it forward quickly for the 「th」 and quickly back to 「s.」

It is easy to get hung up on the consonant jumble, so focus on the vowel sound in 「siks」 - hit it hard. It is a short sounding vowel, but give it energy and let the rest roll off.

To get the proper position, start by separating the 「Siks」 and the 「ths」 and put them together slowly. Speed it up a little at a time until you hit what I call the 「train wreck」 phase. Then back off your speed and try again. Good luck!
