跟「Chinglish」說再見
背過多少單詞，學過多少語法，但開口一說還是 Chinglish 。為什麼學了英語這麼多年，還是稀里糊塗？為什麼過了四六級，英語還是結結巴巴？為什麼這麼辛苦鑽研，還是詞不達意？米姐通過幾個例子，讓你擺脫中式英語。
在漢語表達中，為了達到表意準確、生動且具有韻律感的效果，我們通常會對某個名詞修飾以另一個名詞（名詞活用），進行適度的包裝。如：加快xx的腳步，xx水平逐步提高，隨著xx聲的響起。
然而，由於英語詞性簡明，且添加修飾性名詞會導致同時添加介詞、冠詞（in, of, for, the等等），所以這類修飾性名詞通常應當省去。如以下例子：
1. 為了加快經濟改革腳步
誤：to accelerate the pace of economic reform
正：to accelerate economic reform
評：雖說「加快腳步」在漢語中是很形象生動的表達，而僅寫成「加快經濟改革」顯得意猶未盡，但在英語中，這樣的表達不僅沒有豐富意思，而且還多出了三個單詞，顯得多餘了許多。
2. 農業收成非常好
誤：there have been good harvests in agriculture
正：there have been good harvests
評：雖然harvests 一般僅直譯為「收成」，但其實harvests 即指農業收成。漢語中「農業」對「收成」其實更多起到的是修飾性而非限定性，而且讓該詞語更加朗朗上口，符合漢語書面語習慣，但當翻譯為英語時卻是多餘了。
3. 城鄉居民生活水平持續提高
誤：living standards for the peoplein both urban and rural areascontinued to rise
正：living standards in both urban and rural areas continued to rise
評：在漢語中，將修飾「生活水平」的形容詞寫為「城鄉居民」而非「城鄉」的好處是，這句話就成為了三個四字短語的組合，讀來悅耳。但事實上，living standards 即指人的生活水平，多添加的「居民」不僅由於需要搭配介詞和冠詞導致不順口，而且不具有實質意義。
4. 這些困難本質上是暫時性的
誤：these hardships are temporary in nature
正：these hardships are temporary
評：任何形容詞均在一定程度上描述了某事物的本質。雖然在漢語講話中，為了強調其屬性是本質的，但在英文中，除非某物有其他屬性需要並列闡述，否則便默認為在形容本質，因此諸如 in nature 和 in character 這種詞在英文中便不常見了。
看了以上例子我們會發現，許多名詞修飾在漢語中或許是個好點子，但在英文中，會付出冗餘的代價，且達不到很好的表達效果，所以在翻譯的過程中，大家千萬要小心！！下面我們再舉出一些經典的例子，希望大家閱讀後能有收穫，謝謝大家！
