前言:
此前,我們分享了「從NatureCommun.發表文章學習文章審稿意見回復」一文,以實例介紹了Response Letter的一些基本寫法和原則,今天主要針對Response Letter的格式跟大家做一些簡單的分享,希望對大家有所幫助。
首先,還是重申下Response Letter回復的幾個基本原則:
回複審稿人意見時,要把握的幾個基本原則是:1)態度和善,措辭誠懇,不要激怒審稿人;2) 回答問題時,層次要分明,抓住審稿人問題的重點,直面審稿人的問題,不要妄想著繞圈圈搪塞過去;3) 回答問題不是光嘴上說說就好,要有理有據,需要補充實驗的,要用實驗結果來說明,需要引用文獻的,找到合適的文獻進行闡述;4) 儘可能讓審稿人輕鬆起來,所以格式很關鍵,不要偷懶,文章中哪些地方進行了修改,在Response letter裡面要指明,並最好列出來;如果對正文或者SI裡面的圖表進行了修改,在response letter裡面也要同步貼上去,不要將審稿人的時間浪費在幫你找文件當中;應該適當地使用粗體斜體或者下劃線,幫助審稿人抓住你回答問題的重點;5) 審稿人的意見並不總是對的,所以不要別人說啥就是啥,科學原則不能違背。如果審稿人的意見有誤,應該委婉地利用充實的證據來堅持自己的觀點,請不要使用過激的語言。
重點推薦下面這種格式:
1) General response:在逐條回復每個審稿人的意見之前,先總體回復一下,感謝編輯和審稿人對文章提出的寶貴意見,同時對response letter的格式進行簡單說明,具體如下:
General response:We sincerely thank theeditor and all reviewers for their valuable feedback that we have used toimprovethe quality of our manuscript. The reviewer comments are laid out belowin italicized font and specific concernshave beennumbered. Our response is given in normal font and changes/additionsto themanuscript are given in blue text.
請注意:這裡在格式上非常明確的一點就是:將審稿人的意見一條條編號,並用斜體標記出來,這樣一目了然,審稿人可以很輕鬆地區分問題和回復意見;此外,對於文章中做出的標記,用不同顏色的字體標記出來,這樣審稿人不需要再回到論文中去找,非常方便。這裡還是重申一下這個基本原則:你替審稿人省事了,他才會讓你省心!
2) Point-to-point response:將審稿人的意見(斜體)一條條編號,然後逐一回復(正常的字體),回復時,以Author reply或者response等字眼開頭:
這裡舉一個例子(論文:Chem. Mater. 2015, 27, 8011-8020)
1. The authors suggest that a bimetallicAu-Feoxide/hydroxide forms at the electrode interface leading to enhanced OERactivity. Characterization of the bimetallic system would add strength to thisargument.
Response: We agree that morestudy would be useful to understand details of interaction and enhancement. Atthis point we do not have the necessary tool-set to study thestructure/interaction in the proposed amorphous bimetallic (hydrated) oxide. Wehope, in the future, to employ synchrotron X-ray techniques to determine thelocal coordination of Fe in the putative mixed Au-Fe oxide phase. This study isbeyond the scope of this report which focuses on answering critical questionsregarding the activity of the FeOOH phase itself. We note also that sincesubmission of our manuscript there has been apublication by Alex Bell andMartin Head-Gordon at Berkeley showing that Fe on Au2O3 has enhanced OERactivity with DFT calculations (Ref. 79). We have added this citation andreference to the manuscript.
We added to page 25-26:
We also notethat thisdata is consistent with the experiments and density functionaltheorycalculations by Klaus et. al. (published during the review process of thismanuscript) that show Fe cations on the surface of Au2O3 haveenhanced OER activity relative toFeOOH.

格式解析:這裡所採用的格式在General response中已經做出了說明,重點就是通過字體,顏色將不同的內容區分開來,這樣一目了然。還有一點值得注意的是:如果文章中添加了新的參考文獻,在response裡面提到的時候,應該註明"Ref. 79"等字樣,提醒審稿人你已經將相關內容加入到正文中;文章中修改的內容,應該註明你加到了哪一頁(pages 25-26)。
內容解析:這裡之所以列出這一條回復是因為裡面有很多值得關注的東西,這裡一併做出解析。
重點:審稿人要求補充實驗,但客觀條件上不允許怎麼辦?
A. 首先,應該對審稿人的意見表示贊同:We agree that more studywould be useful to understand details of interaction and enhancement.
B. 然後,應該對實際情況進行說明:At this point we do nothave the necessary tool-set to study the structure/interaction in the proposedamorphous bimetallic (hydrated) oxide. 請注意,這裡僅針對確實沒有辦法獲得相關實驗結果的情況,如果有可能,審稿人提出需要補充實驗,一定按照審稿人的要求進行補充。
C. 進一步表明態度,指出哪些方法可能可以解決審稿人提出的問題,並表示後期會進行相關研究:We hope, in the future,to employ synchrotron X-ray techniques to determine the local coordination ofFe in the putative mixed Au-Fe oxide phase. This study is beyond the scope ofthis report which focuses on answering critical questions regarding the activityof the FeOOH phase itself.
D. 實驗上暫時無法提供數據來回答審稿人的問題,就一定需要從文獻中找到依據來說明:
We note also that sincesubmission of our manuscript there has been apublication by Alex Bell andMartin Head-Gordon at Berkeley showing that Fe on Au2O3 hasenhanced OER activity with DFT calculations (Ref. 79).
