國會議員對於H1b的態度: Steve Pearce 「如果兩年內有相關改革，consider it lucky」

我問的問題是：

「What"s current administration towards H1b visa? Rumor says it will be revoked/replaced with a score-based system. Is this true? and if there is such plan what"s the schedule?」

Steve Pearce的回答是:

「Even Trump said many thing before the election about h1b, there won"t be things happen (to these workers). There will be a score-based system, but it"s congress, things will move slowly. He (Trump) will work on many other things like employment, education and taxes. So if something can be seen in congress before the end of next year, you are imaging it.」

追問了一句：

"So basically we can"t see any changes happen within 2 years"

點了點頭，上車走了。

多說一句，這是我第二次參與類似的Q&A會議。回答問題的不僅僅是議員；很多片區的Senator和representative （地區議員和代表）也來了。態度非常誠懇。但是鑒於眾所周知的原因，很多回答比較官方化。但是提問和回答的都很有水準，也回答了不少人心中的疑惑。

目前來看美國基層人民的關注在：

• 如果目前的ACA（affordable care act=obamacare）被廢除，有沒有更好的方案；

• 學校里初中的輟學率很高，有沒有辦法解決；

• 教育系統資金分配有問題，明明有錢但是老師工資很低

• 有一個NM Tech的物理教授問聯邦政府對於研究機構的funding會怎麼削減

另：果然農場主大多數都是白人，反正今天與會五六十號，就我和我同事兩個非白人……
