這兩個系列高度相似，Stanford那兩門涉及到文獻閱讀和paleography的比較散，用的書籍都是大英圖書館和劍橋大學所收錄的珍本，哈佛的就比較系統，用的是哈佛本校圖書館的藏書，但也多了一些其他細節，比如第1, 2講的書籍與捲軸製作，第3講的印刷業發展等，如果沒有興趣可以跳過...涉及原始文獻閱讀訓練的主要是第6, 7講，主要訓練如何閱讀某種字體、不規範的寫法與省略等，第8和第9講涉及到更具體的時禱書及聖禮書的相關閱讀，跟你的關聯度低點但也高度建議聯繫一下。paleography部分放在了每一講的附錄部分，與你可能比較相關的Anglicana, Proto-Gothic和Anglo-Saxon Square Minuscule什麼的都有收錄...

唯一的缺點是這兩門課主要涉及的是西歐文書，未必強調英國部分...以及這是一門MOOC（慕課新手指南之一：MOOC是什麼？），每一講都有習題以供鞏固練習，如果在開課期間完成練習可以拿到證書，但現在課程已經關了，可能證書相關還要等下一次開課了...~

我沒系統學過，只是因為需要曾看過一批17、18世紀的貿易檔案和航海日誌。

拋磚引玉，我的個人經驗是，先找大寫字母，認專有名詞。

人名地名的拼法是相對固定的，即便有個別不認識的字母，你也能通過單詞猜出來。

然後通過這些專有名詞，來熟悉這批文獻中的筆記、各個字母的寫法，慢慢就能連認帶猜地讀了。
