2017秋季波士頓東北大學新生,我需要準備些什麼?

一顆能抗凍的心和一雙能鏟雪挖車的手。

一顆面對高房租淡定的心和一雙勤勞致富的手。

- Be prepared for cold weather - bring warm clothing, gloves, boots, etc.

- Be prepared to get involved right away. Leave your dorm door open and meet new people, stay open to opportunities that present themselves, get familiar with the clubs / organizations / teams and sign up for something new. (The first few weeks are the most important for finding friends because social circles start to close off once they are established. So, again, be open to meeting new people and doing things with them. Eating and drinking (alcohol, mainly) together will help bond friendships.)

- Get familiar with the resources available to you on campus, such as student / career services, tutoring, academic advising, etc.

- Pack items that will comfort you when you get home sick.

- Sign up for the easiest classes first. You will likely experience a language barrier, so it"s better to take easier classes while you get used to doing everything in English. Math a science classes are also good because they do not require as much English language.

- Know what American professors expect from students. For example, participate in class by asking questions or offering answers. Get to know your professors and attend their office hours. Make sure you can skim and scan (for reading assignments) effectively. Understand that cheating is an extremely serious infraction that could result in expulsion. Make sure you know how to properly cite information for your papers - professors will indicate whether they expect MLA, APA, or Chicago style citations. Expect it to differ by class, especially in the first couple year of university.

- Figure out how you will pay for things. Will you apply for a credit card? (You will need a social security number for this) or will you use a bank card? How will you access this money? If you use a Chinese credit card, will be able to get cash?

- Get to know American laws. For example, you cannot drink legally until you are 21. Most people do it anyway, but you could get in legal trouble if caught. The same goes for marijuana. You"re going to come across a lot of drinking and drugs while in college, so think about how you will handle it. Also, absolutely no drunk driving. Order an Uber if you are drunk and need a ride.

一顆抗凍的心以及探索世界的慾望 我是說study abroad
