到底應該是 Im not hero 還是 Im no hero？

看美劇，經常看到類似 I"m no hero 這種說法，而我的直覺是 I"m not hero，請教一下

首先注意 *I"m not hero 是一個文法有誤的句子。一般情況下，在單數可數名詞前，限定詞不可缺少。限定詞包括冠詞 a(n)/the，指示代詞 this/that，物主代詞 my/your/our等，數量限定語 some/any/either/neither/no 等等，因此至少要說 I"m not a hero.

no = not any

There is no water. He got no money. It"s no problem. I"m no hero.

There isn"t any water. He hasn"t got any money. It is not any problem. I"m not any hero.

因此當動詞為be、且名詞是複數或不可數時，夾在它們中間的 no 和 not 才可以互用，但意義仍有些許差距（根源在於 no 為限定語，否定一個名詞；not 為副詞，否定一個謂語動詞），實質就是有無 any 一詞的差距：

They are [no heroes]. = They are not any heroes.

他們（才）不是（什麼）英雄。（暗指「英雄」這個概念與其相距甚遠，他們配不上或不屑於這個稱謂，甚至可以暗指他們恰恰是「英雄」的反面）

They [are not] heroes. 他們不是英雄。（暗指他們的身份與英雄沒有關聯、或者另外一群人才是英雄）

或許你可以想想「不是」和「沒有」的內涵區別。
