I am Canadian, but I assume we use similar materials to what American students use.

For academic writing, I recommend A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations by Kate l. Turabian.

For creative writing, I recommend Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott.
