為什麼 Google.com 的搜索輸入框比 Google.com.hk 的要長？

http://Google.com 的搜索輸入框大概長735px，http://Google.com.hk 的大概長510px。

原因沒那麼深奧，別想多了。http://Google.com 啟用 Instant 的時候，由於布局需要把搜索框調大了（和結果頁的寬度一致），而http://Google.com.hk 還沒有啟用 Instant。

另外，把輸入框變大以增加用戶輸入的實驗最早是微軟做的。Google在過去一年多裡面嘗試了好幾種不同的搜索框長度，貌似現在實驗還在繼續，不同瀏覽器上的搜索框長度也不盡相同，現在你看到的也不一定就是確定了的:-)

其實09年http://Google.com的搜索輸入框就已經變長了，當時Google的VP還專門寫了一篇blog http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/now-s-u-p-e-r-sized.html （需翻牆）

記得中國站, 日本站和韓國站以前的布局嗎? 中文站和韓國站在搜索欄下方有十分醒目的導航, 用戶習慣所致.

個人覺得

放寬是為了為了讓客戶更多的輸入

國內短可能是讓客戶更多的使用提示

可能對搜索引擎使用程度不同有關
