You say that you love rain,but you open your umbrella when it rains

You say that you love the sun,but you find a shadow spot when the sun shines

You say that you love the wind,but you close your windows when wind blows

This is why I am afraid,you say that you love me too

I have had my invitation to this world"s festival, and thus my life has been blessed.

Early in the day it was whispered that we should sail in a boat, only thou and I, and never a soul in the world would know of this our pilgrimage to no country and to no end.

In the meanwhile I smile and I sing all alone. In the meanwhile the air is filling with the perfume of promise.

The time that my journey takes is long and the way of it long.

I came out on the chariot of the first gleam of light, and pursued my voyage through the wildernesses of worlds leaving my track on many a star and planet.

Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.

Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.

Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might.

Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.

And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.

If the day is done, if birds sing no more, if the wind has flagged tired, then draw the veil of darkness thick upon me, even as thou hast wrapt the earth with the coverlet of sleep and tenderly closed the petals of the drooping lotus at dusk.

From the traveller, whose sack of provisions is empty before the voyage is ended, whose garment is torn and dustladen, whose strength is exhausted, remove shame and poverty, and renew his life like a flower under the cover of thy kindly night.

When grace is lost from life, come with a burst of song.

I know that the day will come when my sight of this earth shall be lost, and life will take its leave in silence, drawing the last curtain over my eyes.

Yet stars will watch at night, and morning rise as before, and hours heave like sea waves casting up pleasures and pains.

When I think of this end of my moments, the barrier of the moments breaks and I see by the light of death thy world with its careless treasures. Rare is its lowliest seat, rare is its meanest of lives.

Things that I longed for in vain and things that I got---let them pass. Let me but truly possess the things that I ever spurned and overlooked.

《Annabel Lee》

Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)

It was many and many a year ago,

In a kingdom by the sea,

That a maiden there lived whom you may know

By the name of ANNABEL LEE;

And this maiden she lived with no other thought

Than to love and be loved by me.

She was a child and I was a child,

In this kingdom by the sea;

But we loved with a love that was more than love

I and my Annabel Lee;

With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,

In this kingdom by the sea,

A wind blew out of a cloud by night chilling my Annabel Lee;

So that her highborn kingsman came

And bore her away from me,

To shut her up in a sepulchre

In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in the heaven,

Went evnying her and me

Yes! That was the reason(as all men know, in this kingdom by the sea)

That the wind came out of the cloud,

Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love

Of those who were older than we

Of many far wiser than we

And neither the angels in heaven above,

Nor the demons down under the sea,

Can ever dissever my soul from the soul

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams

Of the beautiful Annalbel Lee;

And the stars never rise but I see the bright eyes

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side

Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,

In the sepulchre there by the sea,

In her tomb by the side of the sea.

她的芳名叫安娜貝爾.李;

在這個濱海的國度里;

我和我的安娜貝爾.李;

我的安娜貝爾.李;

I like for you to be still

I like for you to be still: it is as though you are absent

and you hear me from far away and my voice does not touch you

It seems as though your eyes had flown away

and it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth

As all things are filled with my soul

you emerge from the things, filled with my soul

You are like my soul, a butterfly of dreams

and you are like the word Melancholy

I like for you to be still, and you seem far away

It sounds as though you are lamenting, a butterfly cooing like a dove

And you hear me from far away, and my voice does not reach you

Let me come to be still in your silence

And let me talk to you with your silence

that is bright as a lamp, simple as a ring

You are like the night, with its stillness and constellations

Your silence is that of a star, as remote and candid

I like for you to be still: it is as though you are absent

distant and full of sorrow, as though you had died

One word then, one smile, is enough

And I"m happy, happy that it"s not true

I"ll love you till China and Africa meet.

As I Wanked out One Evening.

By W.H.Auden.

As I walked out one evening.

Walking down Bristol Street, the crowds upon the pavement were fields of harvest wheat.

And down by the brimming river I heard a lover sing under an arch of the railway:

"Love has no ending. I"ll love you, dear, I"ll love you Till China and Africa meet, and the river jumps over the mountain, and the salmon sing in the street.

I"ll love you till the ocean is folded and hung up to dry, and the seven stars go squawking like geese about the sky.

The years shall run like rabbits, for in my arms I hold the flower of the ages, and the first love of the world."

But all the clocks in the city began to whirr and chime: "O let not Time deceive you, you cannot conquer time."

In the burrows of the nightmare where justice naked is, time watches from the shadow and coughs when you would kiss.

In headaches and in worry vaguely life leaks away, and time will have his fancy tomorrow or today.

Into many a green valley drifts the appalling snow;

曾經綠蔭蔥蘢的山谷,瀰漫著駭人的大雪;

Time breaks the threaded dances and the diver"s brilliant bow.

"O plunge your hands in water; Plunge them in up to the wrist;

「啊,把你的雙手伸進水裡,讓水流漫過你的手腕;

Stare, stare in the basin and wonder what you"ve missed."

The glacier knocks in the cupboard, The desert sighs in the bed.

And the crack in the tea-cup opens a lane to the land of the dead.

Where the beggars raffle the banknotes and the giant is enchanting to Jack.

And the Lily-white boy is a roarer, and Jill goes down on her back.

"O look, look in the mirror, O look in your distress;

哦,快看,快看那面鏡子,看看鏡中你的憂愁;

Life remains a blessing although you cannot bless.

O stand, stand at the window as the tears scald and start;

哦,站起來,快站到窗前,你滾燙的熱淚開始流滴;

You shall love your crooked neighbour with your crooked heart."

It was late, late in the evening. The lovers they were gone;

The clocks had ceased their chiming, and the deep river ran on.

Funeral Blues

By W.H.Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,

Silence the pianos and with muffled drum

Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead

Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead.

Put crepe bows round the white necks of public doves,

Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West.

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;

Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;

傾瀉大海,掃除森林;

For nothing now can ever come to any good.

有很多的詩非常的棒,但是我閱歷太淺,之前有人提到過的when you are old裡面我非常喜歡作者love the sorrows of your changing face的感覺。

還有there is a lady sweet and kind,別看這首詩的名字傻,但我自己感覺讀起來有侵略感失落感的交集。

還有A.Marvell,我很喜歡他的to his coy mistress.

I want you to know one thing

You know how this is

If I look at the crystal moon

at the red branch

of the slow autumn at my window

lf I touch near the fire

the mpalpable ash,

or the wrinkled body of the log

Evervthing carrie"s me to you

As if everything that exists

Aromas,light,medals,

Or little boats that sail toward

those isles of your that wait for me,

well now.If little by little

You stop loving me,

I shall stop loving you

Little by little.

If suddenly you forget me

Do not look for me.

For I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad

the wind of banners

that passes through my life,

And you decide to leave me

at the shore of the heart where I have root

Remember,that on that day, at that hour,

I shall lift my arms

And my roots will set off

to seek another land.

But, if each day, each hour,

You feel that you are destined forme

with implacable sweetness,

If each day a flower climbs

up to your lips to seek me,

Ah my love, ah my own,

in me all that fire is repeated,

In me nothing is extinguished or forgotten

My love feeds on your love, beloved,

And as long as you live

it will be in your arms without leaving mine.

《When You Are Old》

William Butler Yeats

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,

And nodding by the fire, take down this book,

And slowly read, and dream of the soft look,

Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,

And loved your beauty with love false or true,

But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,

And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,

Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled,

And paced upon the mountains overhead,

And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

She walks in beauty, like the night

  Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

  And all that"s best of dark and bright

  Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

  Thus mellowed to that tender light

  Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

  Had half impaired the nameless grace

  Which waves in every raven tress,

  Or softly lightens o"er her face;

  Where thoughts serenely sweet express

  How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o"er that brow,

  So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

  The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

  But tell of days in goodness spent,

  A mind at peace with all below,

  A heart whose love is innocent!

I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,

And Mourners to and fro

Kept treading--treading--till it seemed

That Sense was breaking through--

And when they all were seated,

A Service, like a Drum--

Kept beating--beating--till I thought

My Mind was going numb--

And then I heard them lift a Box

And creak across my Soul

With those same Boots of Lead, again,

Then Space--began to toll,

As all the Heavens were a Bell,

And Being, but an Ear,

And I, and Silence, some strange Race

Wrecked, solitary, here--

And then a Plank in Reason, broke,

And I dropped down, and down--

And hit a World, at every plunge,

And finished knowing--then--

They"re both convinced

  that a sudden passion joined them.

  Such certainty is beautiful,

  but uncertainty is more beautiful still.

  Since they"d never met before, they"re sure

  that there"d been nothing between them.

  But what"s the word from the streets, staircases, hallways—

  perhaps they"ve passed by each other a million times?

  I want to ask them if they don"t remember--

  a moment face to face in some revolving door?

  perhaps a "sorry" muttered in a crowd?

  a cut "wrong number" caught in the receiver?

  but I know the answer.

  No, they don"t remember.

  They"d be amazed to hear,

  that Chance has been toying with them now for years.

  Not quite ready yet

  to become their Destiny,

  it pushed them close, drove them apart,

  it barred their path,

  stifling a laugh,

  and then leaped aside.

  There were signs and signals,

  even if they couldn"t read them yet.

  Perhaps three years ago

  or just last Tuesday

  a certain leaf fluttered from one shoulder to another?

  Something was dropped and then picked up.

  Who knows, maybe the ball that vanished into childhood"s thicket?

  There were doorknobs and doorbells where one touch had covered another beforehand.

  Suitcases checked and standing side by side.

  One night, perhaps, the same dream,

  grown hazy by morning.

  Every beginning

  is only a sequel, after all,

  and the book of events

  is always open halfway through.

  ——Love at first sight

Wislawa Szymborska

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience很多我未旅行過的地方,欣然存在於任何經驗之外。

  • your eyes have their silence:

  • in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,

  • or which i cannot touch because they are too near

  • your slightest look easily will unclose me

  • though i have closed myself as fingers,

  • you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

  • or if your wish be to close me,

  • i and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,

  • as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending...

The curfew tolls the knell of parting day,

The lowing herd wind slowly o"er the lea

The ploughman homeward plods his weary way,

And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

The Daffodils

  I wander"d lonely as a cloud

  That floats on high o"er vales and hills,

  When all at once I saw a crowd,

  A host of golden daffodils;

  Beside the lake,beneath the trees,

  Fluttering and dancing in the breeze

  Continuous as the stars that shine

  And twinkle on the Milky Way,

  They stretched in never-ending line.

  Along the margin of a bay

  Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

  Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

  The waves beside them danced;but they

  Outdid the sparking waves in glee;

  A poet could not but be gay,

  In such a jocund company;

  I gazed and gazed but little thought

  What wealth the slow to me had brought;

  For oft,when on my couch I lie

  In vacant or in pensive mood,

  They flash upon that inward eye

  Which is the bliss of solitude;

  And then my heart with pleasure fills

  And dance with the daffodils.

  像群星在閃爍一片晶瑩;

  通往遠方彷彿無窮無盡;

  卻不如這水仙舞得輕俏;

  又怎能不感到歡欣雀躍進;

  感到百無聊賴心靈空漠;

  多少次安慰過我的寂寞;

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

---by Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know,

His house is in the village though.

He will not see me stopping here,

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer,

To stop without a farmhouse near,

Between the woods and frozen lake,

The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake,

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound"s the sweep,

Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely,dark and deep.

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

And miles to go before I sleep

Solitude

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;

Weep,and you weep alone;

For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,

But has trouble enough of its own.

Sing, and the hills will answer;

Sigh, it is lost on the air;

The echoes bound to a joyful sound,

But shrink from voicing care.

Rejoice, and men will seek you;

Grieve,and they turn and go;

They want full measure of all your pleasure,

But they do not need your woe.

Be glad, and your friends are many;

Be sad, and you lose them all,-

There are none to decline your nectared wine,

But alone you must drink life` s gall.

Feast, and your halls are crowded;

Fast, and the world goes by.

Succeed and give, and it helps you live,

But no man can help you die.

For there is room in the halls of pleasure

For a large andlordly train,

But one by one we must all file on

Through the narrow aisles of pain.

The Haw Lantern

Seamus Heaney

The wintry haw is burning out of season,

crab of the thorn, a small light for small people,

wanting no more from them but that they keep

the wick of self-respect from dying out,

not having to blind them with illumination.

But sometimes when your breath plumes in the frost

it takes the roaming shape of Diogenes

with his lantern, seeking one just man;

so you end up scrutinized from behind the haw

he holds up at eye-level on its twig,

and you flinch before its bonded pith and stone,

its blood-prick that you wish would test and clear you,

its pecked-at ripeness that scans you, then moves on.

漫遊,尋找那唯一真誠的人;

你希望用它的刺扎血能檢驗和澄清自己;

If Winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Pity me not.

『The world has held great Heroes,

As history-books have showed;

But never a name to go down to fame

Compared with that of Toad!

『The clever men at Oxford

Know all that there is to be knowed.

But they none of them know one half as much

As intelligent Mr. Toad!

『The animals sat in the Ark and cried,

Their tears in torrents flowed.

Who was it said, 「There』s land ahead?」

Encouraging Mr. Toad!

『The army all saluted

As they marched along the road.

Was it the King? Or Kitchener?

No. It was Mr. Toad.

『The Queen and her Ladies-in-waiting

Sat at the window and sewed.

She cried, 「Look! who』s that handsome man?」

They answered, 「Mr. Toad.」』

In winter

Thick twilight with sunset

Covers the sky

Like the fairy mole between her breast

So sexy and so red

With the light breaking cloud

Suddenly dark,suddenly bright

To hide the graceful figure

Only you imagine

Not to kiss her body and her eye

Piles of straw

As the girl"s hair

Pieces of reed

Just like men"s beard

Distant mountain alone

So much like a child

Is revealing head and look about

The mysterious fairy

Peeps dim night
